Hello again blog!Today we went to a local discount store and bought some things in their sale.We got flashlights(torches)that need no batteries -you just shake them and they light and can be seen up to a mile away!!!We got 30AA batteries at a fantastic price.2 Plastic drink pitchers to keep Crystal light(a soft drink made from powder)in the 'fridge.A small glass measuring pitcher and a few more bargains.Went to lunch at Furr's cafteria.I had chicken and turkey, salad, mashed potatoes, carrots, wheat roll, fruit salad and strawberry shortcake-needless to say I didn't want anything for supper tonight! Now going to read more of my book "Laci's story" by the mother of Laci Person who with her unborn baby was murdered by her husband when she was 7 and a half months pregnant!Goodnight blog.

We got more rain today.I cleaned house this morning and did some wash.Went to our usual Thursday lunch with our friends Bob & Marie G.I finished reading "Laci's story" written by the mother of the 27 yr old pregnant woman who was murdered with her unborn baby by her husband so I lent it to Marie to read.Fascinating reading and the husband told such blatant lies about so many things -on top of having an affair.
Came home and wrote a couple of letters to friends who do not have computers. Now I have to go and pick up some prescitions at the base and go to the BX for a couple of things. It is very handy to live near the base.
Looking forward to Bob & Eunice's visit this month. We are looking forward to seeing their new RV.They will stop here in the city to visit their daughter before going on to California to see their other two daughters and grandchildren.

I am off to the hair-dressers to get my hair done today-then to the garden shop on base to purchase more annuals for the garden tubs.Hope to get them planted before we get more rain.I am making scones and a meat pie for the freezer this afternoon.Tonight I will relax and watch T.V.if there is anything interesting to watch-otherwise I will read a book.

Went to a favorite discount grocery store today. They had bought out a "Gourmet store-(British & other overseas foods). We got 8oz pkts Bisto for 79cents,Ambrosia Rice Pudding for $1.00,Ambrosia Devon Custard for 79cents,Packets of Birds Custard(5) for 99cents,Wilkins & Sons Marmalade $1.00,Wilkins Lemon Curd-also $1.00,London Pub spicy steak sauce-89cents,and Crosse & Blackwell Mincemeat(822grams,or 29oz)for $1.50!!!I was sooo happy as I am each time I find British foods but these were definitely bargains!!!I have some stuff for Eunice and Bob who hopefully will be here within a week or two.
It poured with rain all morning so we were glad to come home. Now going to make a cuppa and read some.
Oh,I almost forgot-Dutch rusks were 49cents.We paid $1.99 in Tennessee for them but we enjoy them as a snack with butter and cheese.Only got two packs as the others felt like they were all broken.

It was a grey drizzly morning but now the sun has reappeared and it's a lovely day.
Michelle and Terry came to dinner-steaks,baked potatoes(both done on the grill) and corn and salad.Crusty wheat and white rolls by Pilsbury. For dessert mandarin orange slices and tropical fruit salad with custard(which we got yesterday) or Cool whip-some people had both!!!!!
Michelle and Terry brought me a magnet from Hoover Dam and a pen with my name on it.Lots of things have Meghan -but mine is spelt without an "h".
Next week is Mother's Day in the USA so we will be going to "Steak & Ale" for Sunday lunch.Michelle went back to her old job as finance clerk at the Post Office-not so much pressure as being a supervisor and she feels better for it.We had a lovely visit as we do on Sundays.
Tonight part 2 of "Jerico" a police detective T.V.show-set in London in the 50's.Anyone seen it?Part 1 was very good-about a rich man who went missing.

My parents watched 'Jericho' when it was shown over here Meg - any dectective programme is fair game for them! They normally show them on Sunday nights at 9pm in our television region. I prefer 'Foyle' myself.

This was the first time I had heard of Jerico.I used to love Frost and Foyle and Morse and Midsummer murders. We get those programmes here at 8pm on our PBS stations(Sunday evenings).

Spent the morning house-cleaning and then made a Shepherd's pie for supper.I used the lovely Yukon gold potatoes and they taste so delicious and buttery! Can hardly wait for supper.Bob will have sprouts with his and I will have a salad for as much as I love sprouts I am not supposed to eat dark green leafy vegetables since I take Coumadin.
This afternoon I went to a local store and found a book I thought I might like to read. The authoress is Marcia Willett from Somerset.Has anyone ever read any of her books? This is the first one published in the States apparently. It is called "A week in Winter".
