Incident on Bridge tonight « Posted: 06 February 2012 at 06:24 PM »

Hi All, was driving over the bridge tonight and i assume someone was in the water, as the Coastguard was there as were a lot of police and the lifeboat in the basin. They kept bringing the bridge up and down which incidently has caused massive chaos once again in our beloved town centre.. anyone heard what happened? nothing on the news or net yet?

UPDATE: Man taken to hospital after jumping off Lowestoft’s bascule bridge

Emergency services were called to Lowestoft’s bascule bridge yesterday afternoon after a man jumped off it at about 5.10pm.

The man was rescued by the town’s lifeboat, which had been called out after a lifeboatman saw the man jump. He was found by a bridge stanchion. Lowestoft Lifeboat and the Lowestoft, Southwold and Gorleston water rescue teams were called out and police also attended the incident.
