Road works
« Posted: 29 January 2012 at 02:40 AM »
Anyone noticed that following complaints about the roadworks near Lowestoft bridge we now have roadworks at the roundabout at the bottom of Normanston drive bringing the diverted route into chaos
How clever are our local planners buggering up both routes into Lowestoft north at the same time!!

Maybe National Grid should've left the gas leaking from the damaged pipe in Oulton Broad for five weeks, until the town centre roadworks had finished?
Would that be better? Emergency works happen any time. They don't plan for them.
Incidentally, roadworks have nothing to do with local planners. Suffolk County Council coordinate works on the highway.

my mistake, but after sitting in the traffic at the bridge for a while then deciding to come back through oulton broad and getting caught again!! maybe in my frustration i didn't notice it was a gas leak , just looked like roadworks to me.

The local planners can't be blamed for the roadworks.
They can be blamed for leaving so many roads closed, pedestrianised or one way only that any roadworks in the town cause total chaos as there's nowhere else for traffic to go.
psA Warm Welcome to you Allwrigthy.

When I came home today the bridge was stuck, well not the bridge we could walk and cycle over, but the barriers were stuck and traffic piling up

Mind you Lowestoft over the last few years has already become a down hill event!!

I heard today of one poor bloke who was so long in a traffic jam in Lowestoft that his MOT and tax ran out.The only good thing was that the police didn't tow his car away as the tow truck was already stuck in the jams the other side of the river.
