Internet Security programs « Posted: 24 January 2012 at 07:41 PM »

I currently use Kasperksy Internet Security 2012 - and have used their products for a number of years.  Buying the yearly downloaded update costs, I think, around £35 (due for renewal early April).

I see that I can buy the programme (for up to 3 machines) from Amazon for £22.  Would this be OK?  I presume that I’d have to completely remove my existing program before loading the new one.

I was seriously considering to changing to Norton (excellent reviews) for the same price - however, it doesn’t seem to have a banner blocker (useful as I don't see the ads on this site!  The Kaspersky does have it - since 1st Jan it's stopped 15187 x Banners / 1 x Trojan / 4 x Spam.

I can't speak for the program you are currently using, Trigger but I have done the same with Norton and you have to uninstall the old version first.

I'm not against  the free ones but - having had a "problem" when I'd just started with a new ISP - and I had an email from them to the effect that I had (that day) "posted" out some 9000 emails - and that if it happened again my account would be cancelled!!  This was a "problem" caused, I understand, by something within the AVG program which gave a false reading - which, IMO, they should have been aware of.  I posted the problem with a computer forum and asked for their opinion on this matter and all the replies advised paying for a prorgam and, of the replies, all bar one, recommended Kaspersky.  I still have AVG on my lappie!  And, on the occasions that I've helped someone set up a new computer, I always advise AVG.

But, whilst you may "never had a problem" that doesn't mean that other people don't.

I didn't know AVG did free internet security.
I use their free anti-virus, and have done for many years.
FC, do you have a link for their free internet security?

FC, the free version is Anti-Virus only.   This is the Internet Security:  http://free.avg.com/gb-en/internet-security
