Predictions for the future in 100 years?? « Posted: 17 January 2012 at 07:55 PM »

BBC journalists have asked their online readers for their predictions what would happen within the next 100 years.  Bearing in mind the advances made in the past 100 years, what do you think will happen?!

My prediction off the top of my head?

Most of Gt Yarmouth will have disappeared into the sea.
Lowestoft will be split in two, with the current bridge failing and no money to replace it.  There will still be the Oulton Broad crossing.
The transport system will still be as bad as ever nationwide, and particularly here.  However, it will be added by air travel such as flying cars, which will cause the traffic jams to become even worse.

100 years time people will be laughing at what we have now and about how good it was in todays world and no good in the future. Who knows will my laptop I am using now be in a museum like the first ever television?? I am sure we will be able to make robots like humans and will probably have them in our homes. Shocked

The sheep of the world would have woken up and realised there is no such thing as global warming, it is just the planets natural eco cycle happening, and David Bellamy will have a statue erected in his honour for blowing the lid on the myth stirred up by corrupt governments & bank rolled scientists!
Wind Turbines will be no more, because after the 2025 funding runs out on them no one will want to touch one, and they will go down in history as one of the most expensive pointless inventions ever!  Grin Grin evil6

I seem to recall that, not so many months ago, there were posts on here saying that the Mayan calendar says, I think,  that the world going to end on 21/12/12 (so I won't need to buy any Christmas presents!).  And so - why would we be concerning ourselves as to what is going to happen in one hundred years time?

Maybe it is because there are some budding Nostradamus amongst us (or should that be Nostradami  Smiley).

I do agree with Smiley71 predictions but am not convinced with Snowdrops council estates on Mars  Grin

Would you be up for a debate on this subject? I suggest the ground rules should be that anything stated should be linked to a reputable source and the first one to resort to insults loses by default. Over to you Wink

I suggest the ground rules should be that anything stated should be linked to a reputable source ....

But who decides what is a reputable source as I believe I read somewhere that the UEA falsified reports on global warming...so who do we believe? Haven't got a link for that but surely we can have a debate without reliable links here there and everywhere; then we can all state what we personally think about global warming and wind farms etc. etc.

Personally I think they are an expensive waste of time; I would much sooner see nuclear powered generators providing us with sustainable energy. But that is just what I think and I am no boffin so I may be way out but that is what I believe, and I have read some of the propaganda both for and against 'windmills'.

Even if a contributor includes a link (whether reliable or not) there's no obligation on the part of the reader to click on it.

I doubt that you will find a reputable link to that as it didn't happen. A few quotes from thousands of emails were quoted out of context, but that is not the same as falsifying reports.

I have no problem with anyone stating their personal views, but I do have a problem with views being stated as fact, and people who are unable or unwilling to back their views up.

As for reputable links I was thinking along the lines of NASA, The Royal Society...that sort of standing, not a personal blog or something from Greenpeace or  similar in nature. Does that sound reasonable?

would it be possible we each resonsible all home fitted with solar equipment plus small windturbine and if got chickens an oil or whatever it is they use fuel stuff plus refuse be used for methane gas.if still not enough for personal needs then extra can be bought from national grid at premium.this may help people think clearly before wasting power

I apologise for that George27, sustainable wasn't the word to use I should have said ' I would much sooner see nuclear powered generators providing us with a more reliable source of energy (as opposed to wind turbines).

No problem Mel. I agree with you, nuclear power would be more reliable. But the problem of the nuclear waste remains for future generations to deal with.
