I was wondering. Ceefas,The Journal and Woefull Dismal Council repeated over and over again that if they couldn't have their 'campus' that Ceefas would have to pull out of Lowestoft.Despite spending millions and kicking off various businesses,the campus didn't get off the ground. Have Ceefas gone yet?.

Considering that a friend of mine recently started a 10 month contract as their senior web developer in Lowestoft, I doubt it.

Another load of bovine excretement then. WDC spent 3.9 million pounds on this fiasco and used the excuse of the loss of jobs etc at Ceefas as one of the main reasons for doing so. The latest 'vision' from this hopeless bunch is to put industrial buildings on the dockside for the windmill industry.Don't worry though,they're going to put them on stilts (I kid you not,look at the pictures on the 'Powerpark' web site) so that visitors to the town (at least the short a****d ones) can still see the harbour.

http://consult.waveney.gov.uk/consult.ti/PowerParkDraftLDO2012/consultationHome Its pretty hard to find,probably deliberate.There's a bit of paper stuck on a lampost near the dock with a map etc on it,objections and comments have to be in by 12 Feb but will of course make no difference.basically WDC want windmills and reneewable energy firms to flood onto the dock.Buildings in 'sensitive areas with seaside views are to go up on stilts so the tourists can squint underneath.The people who live opposite (and WDC dont allow tham to do so on the ground floor) will then have a nice view of the backs of industrial units instead of the sea. Yippeee. The whole point is that once this document has been rushed through such development will not need any planning permission so it basically becomes a free for all. Yippeee again. Still as long as all those foreign energy firms make a few bob out of it and the tree huggers and Gulliver worshippers are OK who cares?

Pity you didnt get that Cefas job then JJ sounds right up your street I have friends work there and there is definately no talk of them moving, it was a bullying tactic applied by WDC and its a shame the businesses forced to move cant sue them for supplying flse information

Trying to get this in perspective OS surely Waveney Rd has never been considered a residential road it has always been a working area ,when the fish market was there werent there sheds etc along there which would also have screened the view which is of a fairly unused harbour now

Seeing as the fishing industry has well and truly left the town, then isn't it a good thing to encourage new business into the town? As for the 'tree huggers' the plan clearly states
a) the manufacture, assembly, storage, maintenance and movement of components, machinery and plant to be used for the generation or transmission of energy, or the extraction of fossil fuels;
That seems a pretty wide spec to me.
Also the plan states 2. Development is not permitted by Class 10 (Wind turbines) within the Battery Green Road or Trawl Basin character areas Reason: In the interests of residential amenity. Having regard to adopted policies CS02 and DM02.

George..There is an industry already there its called a port. I've no objection to businesses but dont want industrial buildings on stilts right opposite my windows and if thats the definition of a conservation area then I'm Marilyn Monroe. Funky. Waveney Road was never residential? The buildings on one side were built as merchants houses,its always been residential up untill Colne shipping etc took over as offices,and a hotel was at the end of the road next to the red restaurant.I researched the history of the buildings when I tried turning the front back to how it was.A lot of people were born and have died in them over the years from piano teachers,farm labourers,cobblesr,sea captains,shop keepers and brewers etc etc.Thats a lot of weird carrying on in a non residential area. The top floor of my building has never been an office ,and I've lived here for over fourteen years.There are five flats next to me and five more in the old seamans mission and even more nest to the Colombus buildings.
