I’ve been with them just over 3 years now and very satisfied. They have an offer on at the moment of B/B @ £3.24 per month for 12 months i.e. half-price for a year. I like the fact that their Support centre is in the UK (Sheffield) and calls are free. I’ve made very few help calls to them. I also have my phone through them - the only “problem” I’ve had was loss of phone connection for about 5 hours - but suspect that was down to BT/local exchange.
So - a happy bunny.
PS You could give their Residential Sales office a call (open at weekend!); especially if there are any questions you may have -e.g. likely B/B speed - but remember that your speed is governed by a number of factors - such as distance from exchange. I’m fortunate that I’m only a few streets away - but my speed about an hour ago was 1.2Mb/s!

I've been with them for nearly 10 years and in that time I've had about 3 problems. Each time I've phoned them they've been really friendly and useful. They also have been open to price negotiations on rental in the past. For example when they dropped the price of a package I was on for new customers. I phoned and got a discount to lower than their advertised price.
They also have some really good prices for their packages. Far better than BT's prices, who seem to think it's worth paying extra for the same service, just because they're BT.

The first two paragraphs from the third link posted by JJ are interesting - especially the second one:
“PlusNet is owned by BT but it's run as an independent subsidiary. Its close relationship with BT may have something to do with its ability to offer aggressively low pricing on both standard and fibre broadband packages.
A certain distance from its parent company seems to be good for it, though – for the second year running, PlusNet has outperformed BT in our broadband satisfaction survey, particularly for technical support and overall customer satisfaction.”

Of course, there are always downsides to every upside. The one thing that has put me off switching to them is the issues regarding the time it takes a fault to be fixed, a month or more. All broadband companies try to make it the fault is on the side of the consumer (so I have found), but to have to wait several weeks for an engineer visit would simply not be acceptable as far as I am concerned. Also, note that 'some' of their products are in fact more expensive than BT.
I guess like most other services it is a matter of weighing up the issues with a potential fault in the future compared with the cost savings.

The 3rd link provided, shows good and bad sides to the business. Also take note of the actual customer comment at the bottom, showing hassles experienced when moving house. As the review mentions, a good service for the light user, but not best option if wanting to download much. Of course, this review is 5 months old so much may have changed.
I am waiting till I move house before changing from BT, and am considering all options. Plus Net is one I am considering, although I am also thinking of Orange as I had no issues when I was with them several years ago. My problem with BT is simply the cost, which is very high and getting higher it seems every month.

£11.49 a month for a 60Gb download limit? (plus unlimited downloads between midnight and 8am) Doesn't sound like just good for a light user at all.

JJ: The “User comment” printed is, IMO, wrongly titled - it should be “This article doesn’t reflect this user’s experience”. He is speaking of his experience - not of everyone’s. All ISPs have their satisfied customers and dissatisfied ones and, of course, those not pleased with some aspect of the service tend to shout the loudest. The satisfied customers tend to be the “silent majority”. Obviously, selecting “the best” ISP can be a bit of a nightmare - but, generally speaking, weighing up the “pros and cons” - is the way to make your decision. I come under the heading of a “light user” - I certainly don’t need the high speeds that it can achieve - 2 or 3 Mbs is all I need. I would imagine that it would be completely opposite for you.
You mentioned that “The one thing that has put me off switching to them is the issues regarding the time it takes a fault to be fixed, a month or more” and “to have to wait several weeks for an engineer visit would simply not be acceptable as far as I am concerned.” (Me neither!) But, surely, the engineers are from BT Openreach and not Plusnet?

I'll stay with BT...Expensive..but i been with them since way, way back..Decades in fact.. I'm stuck in my ways... Paul Yes, I had noticed! . Obviously, for anyone - as long as you're pleased with the service you're getting from a company - that's all that matters.

I agree, out of 'all' broadband providers, Plusnet appears to be one of the better ones. But that doesnt say much, when they all appear to let you down at some point!
The point I was trying to make (not very well!) was that if you go with someone 'not' BT, then they have to liase with Openreach to get engineers out. And although they deny it, BT Openreach have been investigated many times for prioritising BT Broadband customers over others, meaning that PlusNet customers would have to wait longer for an engineer than BT Broadband customers.

Well, as we all know - nobody's perfect. And, I can't imagine you will ever find an ISP who won't let you down at some point - no matter how much you search. As long as you're getting good service overall - one should be a Happy Bunny (I'm getting in an early Easter message!)

Didn't somebody say earlier that Plusnet was owned by BT? If so surely Plusnet customers with faults on their lines would be well up the priority list?

Talking to a BT engineer today...
Fibre to the cabinet is already being installed...in Beccles and Carlton Colville..
The fibre infrastructure at the Lowestoft exchange is being installed...and practically finished..
One thing the engineer did say tho' was that '..each Fibre cabinet is like it's own exchange' and will make his job far, far 'easier'...
Plus...If you got a telegraph pole connection...It's better...
It's the 30/40yr old underground cables on the estates that are a pain in the butt for them..
