JuStu - if you'd clicked on the link I supplied in my original post - the article from the Woodland Trust states:

"M&S is committed to planting one tree with the Woodland Trust for every 1,000 Christmas cards brought into store – with the aim of saving over 10 million cards from the rubbish bin this year, equating to 10,000 new native trees."  If recycling cards can bring benefit to a charity, then I support that. If you prefer to put them into the Blue Bin for recycling - that's your choice.

Well explained Trigger i think Juststu was not seeing the advantage and thinking of it just as plain recycling

Thats a lovely lot of trees help to make up for the thousands that get pulled down for industry, roads, buildings

I agree, fc, with your comments and I would imagine that was how JustStu was thinking.

I just feel that if cards can be recycled and a Charity can benefit - then so much the better!

I m all for it Trigger what i do is keep family cards (cant part with them) keep any nice ones that can be used for the grandkids crafts and the rest will go to M&S

Every year the public are urged NOT to put the cards in their recycling bin.
So many are contaminated by the sparkly material and ribbons etc. that they are too much of a hindrance to the reclamation process.
I am surprised nobody has mentioned this fact.
