People should be able post what they want on here within the sites terms and conditions, if one doesnt like the 'god slot' or anything else just stay away from the thread, I do the same with the threads that dont interest me/bore me.

Yes I quite agree with Jamesw82, but no one was talking about the god slot, if your posting was aimed to me, well I suggest you read what JJ posted before it.

Jamesw82, I could not agree with you more, I am not at all religious but it will be a sad day when believers are banned or chastised for attempting to pass on there points of view. As for celebrity deaths it was one that I would give a miss.

My post wasn't aimed at you, Freelance did mention the god slot in the second post on page 1 of this thread and i was merely highlighting that as an example, as it had already been used and not to have a go at anyone (thought this was supposed to be a 'nice' forum anyway?!).
I know contribute a bit to the Lowestoft Town FC thread and there's a birdwatching thread under hobbies and interests but i don't expect everyone to take an interest in those, in the same way how i don't read threads that don't interest me

Yeah blame me - I don't mind.
Hey! Must be tough times when God doesn't even rate a capital "G" for his name any more.

However, this may be a good time for admins to discuss on their own private section the future of this site? It seems that many people do not like the news articles that were in the majority placed by myself and Trigger, and so I am refraining from adding new content for the moment. This site, in my opinion, needs to have a good clear vision of the future, of how the website should look and operate. As they say, a new year and a new beginning.
Unfortunately the admin team have no say in the future of this site we purely monitor it, only Darren can decide what the site should look like and what the future for it is and I think you are all aware that we do not have contact with Darren very often.

There is one very important issue you seem to have forgotten. The site administrators alongside the site owner, are legally responsible for the content on a forum such as this. An owner in absentia is the publisher, but the admin team who have the ability to control the content, are very much like the owners opt the Murdoch newspapers - they too are responsible.
Forgive me - but if Darren is unable/unwilling to allow his appointed administration team to set the rules that will protect all of you, then this is rather unwise.
I'd strongly advise the admin people to consider what they allow to be posted, because when tempers get hot, things get said that can easily become the basis for a libel action. With search engines such as Google spidering forums and keeping copies of what was said, plus web services such as the way back machine - a comment, even when removed a few days later may well still be 'out there'. Most forums have very strict terms and conditions on what is acceptable and sex, religion and politics are usually in bold - plus all the usual politically correct stuff ending in 'ism'.
The admin team sadly, do not just have a monitoring role. They have the tools and permissions required to edit and remove posts. Not using them, when they have them, is in my view a dangerous thing. In forums, the accepted authority levels tend to be moderator - people with the time to keep things neat tidy and safe. Administrators are the top level. It's their forum because they have control over what is posted, and what can be seen.
As for content - as in preferred content. This too is for the administration team to decide. If they like the news being copied and repeated, that's their choice. If they like the God stuff - fine. If they decide that they require proper spelling and punctuation, then they change the terms and conditions, and if we don't follow them, they remove our posts and posting rights.
The owner - Darren in this case - can't or won't take an active part in the process. That's actually quite common. He pays for the server costs and has an admin team for day to day stuff. If they have the passwords, then he's also given them responsibility. If he doesn't like all the stuff we're talking about, he'd have done something about it. If he's not bothered, then our admin team will have to decide - or take the risks personally. If somebody posts something libellous then admin will be blamed - saying they only monitor is rather like having the keys to the bank, and on discovering the burglars have been in and taken the cash, saying it was nothing to do with you. It's unlikely, of course - but legally, Annie is the publisher, because like the newspaper editors, she has the power to NOT let things be said. Somewhat scary really!
