Site back online « Posted: 28 December 2011 at 10:41 AM »

I just wanted to be the first to thank Darren for his hard work in resurrecting the LowestoftOnline website.  It has been down for around 2 weeks, and has been sorely missed.  Hopefully we can get the site back to its old ways in no time.

Whatever was behind the site going down I think it would be nice if Darren gave an explanation via a post on here to all the members as to what the reason was.  If it was the debit card fiasco then why did it take longer than the said 24 hours to get up and running again?  Huh

I can't speak for Darren as to the exact reasons for the delays, but I do know a lot about website design.  It is often much harder than people realise, not like simply clicking a few buttons.  Sometimes it can take several days to find one little comma that is out of place in the code!  Many people take a website for granted, without realising the hassles involved in designing and maintaining it.  Whilst I agree that a an explanation of sorts would be nice, I also realise just how hard it can be to run several websites at the same time and still fit in a life of your own!  Personally I would like Darren to also appear, just so we can say hi to one another.

The most important thing is that the forum is back, and we can chat as before on topics of interest to us.

However, this may be a good time for admins to discuss on their own private section the future of this site?  It seems that many people do not like the news articles that were in the majority placed by myself and Trigger, and so I am refraining from adding new content for the moment.  This site, in my opinion, needs to have a good clear vision of the future, of how the website should look and operate.  As they say, a new year and a new beginning.

I agree with Mick's post about the Celebrity deaths and "God wants you to know!" I will continue coming to this site as I was one of the first members but I will also use Alice's site as she has put a lot of work into it.I appreciate Darren getting this site back online, because I am sure it took a fair amount of his time to do it.

Not really bothered about the God Slot or the Celebrity Deaths as I usually gave them topics a miss anyway. I would like to thank Darren for getting this site back online and like Meg I will keep looking at both sites.

I shall have to keep an eye on both sites but there appear to be few people debating any new posts on Lol, are we dividing our time to the detriment to both sites, as is there any light at the end of the tunnel.

Well, I have deliberately stopped listing any news articles as people were complaining about them.  However, it seems that without news articles, content on here is nonexistent.  Even the Joke brigade have stopped posting on here!  I'm waiting to see what the Admins on here think about how this site should work, the types of posts allowed the structure etc.  For the same reason, I am not posting anything on my blog, for now.

I have decided, due to lack of activity on this site, to restart adding news articles and other content.  This is to try and get comments and member interaction back up to the previous level - site activity is key to the success of the forums.  If the admin team would rather I stop, please PM me.
