I'm probably the first bloke in the country to wrap a present for Christmas this year! Had to be done for a friend who lives away and her boyfriend from Lowestoft is seeing her this weekend so had to give it to him last night before he leaves. That's my excuse!

That's a good-enough reason!

Well today I’ve done battle with my duvet and duvet cover - the duvet fought hard not to be put into the clean cover - but I wasn’t standing any nonsense - and won in the end!  This afternoon I baked a Carrot Cake - I still think it’s wrong to put the carrots in whole - but at least I took them out of the can! Cheesy  But a very nice cake it is - thanks to St Delia’s recipe.

 duvet and duvet cover ?

Simples = turn cover inside out then put your arms through to grab sewn corners the clutch duvet with those corners and tip cover over duvet
Shake hard and hey presto duvet and cover 0 you 1

Roll it down to its corners ,place it on the end of duvet ,secure with clothes pegs and roll back up.

It was a tongue-in-cheek way of saying what I’d done (as was the "whole carrots" put in a Carrot Cake!) and, having had duvets for well-over 30 years (though not the same one!) I’m quite used to the battle.  But 10-years ago I had a broken shoulder, which caused the shoulder to lock up, does, unfortunately, make the task a bit more difficult but, doing it My Way (sorry, Frank!) - it gets done!  Grin

Yes we knew that you were having a joke about it but sometimes a tip can help others.

I have always had a problem poaching eggs, I have tried numorous ways/gadgets but the one that works is to line a small dish/cup with clingfilm lightly butter/grease and then break the egg into it. gather the edges of the clingfilm togetherand twist or knot to secure. drop into boiling water for a couple of mins and "hey presto" success.

Thanks Meryl - lesson learned!

Don't get me on the subject of Poached Eggs (though not a favourite of mine!) - have given up on them - I find scrambled eggs much easier!

On Funkychicks photo (October's competition winner) on the Home Page it looks like she has captured a picture of Cliff Richard...in the background on the right  Smiley

I thought exactly the same as you, Mel, but because someone said it looked like George Michael I kept quiet.
No one will believe this     .............  but when I was about 17 years old, I was mistaken for Tommy Steele by his ex next door neighbour in Bermondsey.  (I think she may have had failing eyesight).
She wanted to know why he had just parked his lorry outside his old home.  A lorry with "LOWESTOFT" written on the cab door.
