I Love Lowestoft!

Cars « Posted: 25 November 2011 at 07:01 PM »

As discussed on another topic i though it should have one to its self.

My first car was a 1955 Standard Ten Deluxe that means it had a sun roof and a boot lid, i bought it in 1967 for £40. Lower models  accesed the boot via the rear seat.

I never owned an Allegro but did own two Marina s at different times.

Apart from a 1956 Morris Minor 1000 which I was given (unroadworthy) in about 1967 and which I sold in the same condition, my first roadworthy car was a 1966 Riley Kestrel 1100.  I went for luxury  Smiley

A chap I worked with back in the 60's had a Herald soft top which he used to lend me as he didn't have a full license (I used to accompany him when he was learning).  Had some good fun in that car. Smiley

First car Hillman Imp (std)
Second car's (1 year later) Hillman Imp and a Sunbeam Stiletto (998 version) took the interior out of the Imp and fitted it into the Stiletto as it was in better condition and the Imp was NOT de-cambered like the Stiletto.
During that following year I took the engine out and rebored it then skimmed the cylinder head and 'ported' the valve ports to a larger size then fitted double twin Webber carburetors and made the exhaust system to fit.
A lot of other modifications including the wide rear wheels & tyres on wolfrace rims (slightly smaller on the front.
This became my fun car while I rode a Suzuki (200 electric) motor cycle to and fro work.
Had a Austin Healey Sprite (so much fun with no roof), have had Triumph Dolly, Triumph 2.5 PI (mk1 & mk2) A Vanden-Plas Princess 4 ltr RR, Also the wedge shaped one (less said the better) then an SD1 Rover (British Racing Green)
Several other makes inc Vauxhall viva, and cresta. Ford Granada's Escort and one Lotus Cortina (Oh why did I sell THAT  crybaby2 ) several camper vans VW, Ford and Bedford
One Mini make believe Cooper S but found out it was not just had all the badges and stuff but not the right building and it turned out to be a wringer! angry4
Thanks for starting this topic as so many memories have just flooded through my dormant grey matter.... it has revitalized it to actually working again...
