As the Tories and their pals in the press ratchet up the anti-strike rhetoric, Red Pepper knocks down some of the myths they throw at the unions.

I read the link andre but couldn't see any proof of where the "myths" had originated from. Your post (the words of Red Pepper) suggest that they are from the national press (Guardian and Mirror excepted I presume?), where do they come from? maybe I missed it as I only read it quickly.

I don't have much experience of unions but was previously a member of the NGA who were very quick to rush to the aid of their National Press members and give them strike pay when they were discovered fiddling overtime under fictitious names or there was too much sugar in the cocoa. Unfortunately when the provincial printers needed to come out on strike for very legitimate reasons the NGA bosses were not interested nor was there enough money left in the kitty to finance the strikers. This seems to contradict the general "spin" of the article and I know it to be true because it happened to me..

Andre M, if you wish to make a quote, you need to click on where it says "quick reply"  then click on "reply with quote" at the  bottom of the post in question. Hope this helps.

Seems to be quite a bit of spin going on in your post too

Well you started it!

this was way before links were invented.
The "too much sugar in the cocoa" remark was meant to be a reference to the numerous idiotic reasons that strikes were called in those days by the print unions - I should have made it clearer so I didn't have to explain it to you  Wink
