I switched my Panasonic on this morning but could not get BBC1 so did the auto set up and it came back. My smaller Luxor set in the bedroom  is completely up the creek. Cant get any BBC the others are weak and fuzzy. I can't even do a channel set up , as the screen just goes black.

Just had another go at the Luxor set and it seems to have done it. I think that we need to be patient.

Retuned my Sony Bravia this morning and all seems to be OK - checking the Analogue ones, BBC2 has gone (but I was expecting that!).

FC - when your TV has retuned - is there a facility to “save” it?  When we did the last retune some weeks ago, I didn’t save it.  When I switched TB on later - no channels - as I hadn’t “saved” them.  Retuned, saved it - and all OK.  Have you tried another retune?

Did our 2 TVs this morning and got all the channels.  I did press 'Save' afterwards. Make sure you have the tv set on digital before you do the retune, not analogue.  We have it all to do again in 2 weeks time as well.

Has your Dad's tv got built-in digital or is it a Freeview box Funkychick? What make tv is it?  My remote doesn't have a 'save' button - I just press the OK one.

Oh wondered if it was a Panasonic like mine Funkychick.  A shame you have to pay Hughes' to come out though, still, hope they get it sorted.  Problem is, we have to do it all again in 2 weeks' time, so hope Hughes' leave instructions for you how to go about it next time.

EP I m now thinking its nothing to do with the retune itself as I definately know I have done it correctly as I say its the same tv and model as mine  Just a shame as poor old Dad relies on the TV to keep him company

Funky - I owe you a big apology - “OK” button = “Save” button - I used the wrong technical term - sorry!  If it’s any consolation - on my telly’s remote the “OK” button only has an emblem on it!   icon_scratch

Hope you are able to get your Dad’s TV sorted out for him - it must be so frustrating for both of you - especially for your Dad - as you say, the TV does provide "company" for those who are not so active.

On analogue - I can’t BBC2 now - just BBC1 and ITV, and Ch 4 and 5 are just about OK.  But I think that analogue probably gets switched off next retune.  But if you can't get anything on Dad's TV even after retunes - sounds as though that isn't the problem.

I know that the wife has NOT done any re-tune (she uses the reason she does not know how to) and I haven't and she is reporting that all her TV programs are fine?
As we (I) have never tuned the analog signals in I can't say if there is any difference.
I will do a re-tune but not until we come back from Kent and seeing the grandchildren

Nikkai, perhaps you have Sky tv (I don't know), but if you have Sky, there is no need to retune. Funkychick, if you have a digital video/dvd recorder, that has to be retuned as well.  We had to do ours.

I can assure you fc you were not alone in having problems with the retuning, if I wasn't grey yesterday well I am now.
I had three sets to tune in, the forth one was automatic, I tried to do the one in the bedroom very early this morning and failed miserably, every person was made out of square blocks. I gave that up. The kitchen one next, & hey presto everything went ok straight away. Back to the bedroom & tried two or three more times with it always coming up with poor or no signal.
I suspected then that I had faulty wiring and to check it took it into the kitchen And abysmally failed again, put the kitchen telly back on & blow me that now wouldn't work. At that stage still none working.
Take five I thought A cup of coffee and now we have all systems go thank the Lord.

Have got back form being out (see how clever I am) and now done the re-tune thingy for the TV and the hard drive recorder so all seems to be fine I do declare that the picture looks a little clearer
Or it could be my glasses and the fact I seldom watch TV in any case

I can't tell any difference, all I know is programmes kept disappearing [no signal] and had to be retuned again. My sister-in-law rang me about ir because she thought that she had done something wrong.

The only strange thing about my retune is that the TV I have in the bedroom has some of the channels now allocated to different channel numbers. eg. QVC is on 832 instead of 16.

It’s nice to be different!  Wink

My TV has built-in Freeview - and my PVR (recorder) is Freesat. Yes, the 700s are Radio - I didn’t check, sorry! 801/802 is TV, 805-813 - Radio, 814-821 is TV!  The listed channel “slots” go up to 993 and seem to be a mixture of radio & TV.  Some of the higher numbers give Channel name and programme details - but no actual service.  Perhaps they’ll come into action at next retune.

There's no shame in only having channels up to 810 . . .  crybaby2 Wonder if it's just down to the tuner in particular TVs?

Even if there are more channels avaiable after the Final Retune - I'll still probably only use the few that I use now!

So now Channel 12 - "Yesterday" - has gone . . . also 15 "film on four" - AND - 22 - Ideal World - I am bereft!  Cry
Checked my onscreen Programme Info for them and it's No Event Info.  But found that 957 is headed "Yesterday" - with programme details - but nothing on screen.   Grin

I give up!  Perhaps we should go back to one channel and 405 lines!  evil6

I am beginning to feel deprived !
Not knowing or ever seeing any of these so called channels I am getting very left out here !
So there I am now going to commandeer the remote for the TV and sit through an array of visual editions to enlighten my other wise lacking knowledge of this subject.

Get with it?
Now there's a sixties saying (so mummy told me)

Have been relegated to the laptop ! TV remote is as I have been instructed OUT OF BOUNDS to me ! so I will now have to wait until either the remote is left in a position I can purloin it or when the rightful user has gone OUT.....
so my days of TV watching are still limited
Hang on I have a TV in this laptop?
further investigations will be carried out when I find the time  evil6

I used to watch the F1 but it got same as same as with the three main teams all in procession so did not bother to tune in much, then there is one or two light programs which I did record for the grave yard watch, just to keep me from falling asleep. Though now most programs I would watch have canned laughter dubbed over them, insulting my intelligence to find things funny so I don't seem to watch those much.
I do tune into the news now and then but even that I get off the laptop at my convenience and not with someone else's time decision.
