I also e-mailed the Waveney District Council. Here is their reply!!!!!!!
The council is aware of the building and it's current dliapidated condition and is taking steps to address this where we are able to,but have limited powers to intervene in the ongoing matters.Other than is statutory building regulation enforcement issues ie/unsafe buildings which having spoken with our building control team ,it is not currently deemed to be!!!
What a load of nonsense!

Would people really prefer a large area of waste ground there in it's place if it were demolished?

It's an eyesore. So also is the Claremont Pier.
We cannot decide what someone else does with their own property. Nor should we.
Anyone with ideals - make an offer for it and convert it to suit yourselves.

Absolutely Freelance it belongs to someone it doesnt belong to the council and their hands will be tied they cant do a thing unless the owner wants something done - unless of course it starts to fall down then they can jump in on it being unsafe

I am dreaming of a fairy tale ending..... Someone who lived in Lowestoft years ago and loves the town has made millions elsewhere. When they revisit their home town, they feel compelled to buy the building and restore it to former glory. Well I can dream....

It would be lovely if someone bought it, did it all up and turned it back into the lovely department store that Tuttles was.
