The future of the Tuttles eyesore.
« Posted: 03 November 2011 at 11:15 AM »
I couldn't really think of a relevant section.
I was talking to someone yesterday who had reason to inspect the old Tuttles building. He was saying that large amounts of the lead have been stolen/removed from the roof and water ingress has now damaged large parts of the building,he says it needs some urgent work if its not to become too far gone to repair and make safe.
As this is obviously not going to happen with its present owners I wonder what will happen to it long term.Anyone any thoughts?.

Get rid of the eyesore I say because nothing will be done by the owners to make it look more decent.

Perhaps this is something for Mr Aldous to get his teeth into rather than worrying about a few seagulls.
He couls ask what this goverment propose to do about buildings being left to go to rack and ruin by landlords for whatever reason. In Lowestoft I can think of three, this mess, the fire damaged Sun Rise Inn and the empty Zephyr Cams.Rather than taking over virgin land for buliding these could be compulsory prurchased for a £1,demolished and the land sold off for development.

Such a shame that a buiding like that could be allowed to go to ruin.I remember happy days of shopping with my mum at Bon Marche(Tuttles). It should be torn down before someone gets hurt by falling debris.

Maybe the Journal could take this up and we could all learn why this is being allowed to carry on like this and if this unsightly and unhygenic blight upon Lowestoft will remain for years or untill it falls down.
Of course that might mean the owners wont be placing any more adverts in its pages or the council might have to answer as to why they stand by scratching their backsides,so it wont happen.

I just sent an e-mail to the Journal, but I doubt it will be published as when I have complained about something local before my e-mail has been ignored.
