« Posted: 01 November 2011 at 02:10 PM »
I thought as dave got his jesus bit i try have go at poem.if any one else got one be nice to read them.he goes this a poem that i nearly can remember
A FATHERS WISH
I MAY FAILto be as clever
as my neighour down the street
i may fail to be to be wealthy as other men i greet
i may never win the glory which alot of men have had.
but i got to be succesful as a dad
there are certain dreams i cherish i like to see come true
there are things i would accomplish when my time as ended
but the task my heart is set on
is a guide a little lad,and make my self succesful as that little lad dad
i never come to glory i will never gather gold
men may list me with the failors when my business life is sold
but he who follows after shall be manly and i'll be glad
for i know i been succefull as that little lads dad
there is another stanza but i not up to writing it at the moment, hope it cheers dads up

The last verse is:
It's the one job that I dream of,
it's the task I think of most,
If I fail that growing youngster,
I'd have nothing else to boast;
For though wealth and fame I'd gathered,
all my future would be sad...
If I failed to be successful
as that little fellow's dad.

Don’t tempt me!
Seriously though - following on from your excellent poem, I think we could have a “Favourite Poems” page - possibly in “Hobbies & Interests” rather than being in the Lounge. Let’s just hope no-one posts an overly long poem, or something that starts “The boy stood on the burning deck . . . .”
Will try and start it off today or tomorrow - I’ll post on here when I’ve set it up.

Can't confirm or deny - can't remember. . . . !
But just a general reminder - it will be about "proper" poetry (don't knock it before you try it).
