Picasa woes
« Posted: 29 October 2011 at 03:26 PM »
Anyone been having problems with Picasa lately? Mine (OS Windows 7), of late, seems to have problems opening. It’s particularly frustrating trying to get images t/fd from Memory Card. It used to be simple (probably pre the current version 3.
that when the card was inserted into the PC, Picasa opened, and t/fd the pix from the card.
Now I open Picasa, click on Import - the screen opens - and the blue spinning Circle of Death appears, soon after that one sees a message “Picasa is not responding”. I’ve just tried a few times all with the same results.
Can anyone recommend a free, similar program which will get my pictures from the Memory Card to the PC?

Trigger you can just copy them from the card to whatever location you want them on your computer. No special software required. I have used third party software in the past and I find it can be problematic.

I do as BB has said even though I could use Kodak or another program I have also found third party software to be a little annoying
Picasa transfers all from card to computer which I sometimes did not want to do so I now only transfer those images which I want to keep

I send mine straight to desk top then move them to wherever I want.

Thanks for the replies. Want to try this but (stupid question time!) - i put the memory card into the appropriate slot in the PC. How do I get to it - to retrieve the pix from the card - and transfer them to the PC?
It was so much easier in days of yore - when you took the roll of film into the Chemists - and collected the B & W prints a few days later!

When I put my card in, a little box pops up asking me if I want to import them, view them etc

I'm not sure but I think Trigger may have his default actions set for a different task (sometimes done automatically by installed programs)
If it is then he can always alter it so he gets the pop up box,
its nice to be able to come on and get assistance from so many different people
why I like this site
