Yes we had gas lights, I can remember the gas lighter man who used to come round on a bike and used a long pole, but he had a special skill because he only had one arm.

This is a Liverpool picture from 1953.  It's not my picture so thank you to the person who it belongs to.   I remember climbing up the lamp posts like that.
