Telephone problem
« Posted: 25 October 2011 at 12:20 PM »
Have any of you got problems with your telephone? Mine has been dead since last night - awaiting BT to repair it. They say it is a problem between here and the exchange. Broadband OK at the moment though. I'm in the Walmer Road area.

had a small hiccup yesterday but all is fine now
BT did say they were working on the lines and the exchange I use and they were trying to get services back as soon as they could.
Internet is slightly slow today but all is working
Oops forgot to say I'm in CC

Thanks Nikkai - hope they sort it soon, don't like being without the landline phone.

I had something like that a few weeks back. I checked all the wires & sockets for loose connections & didn't find any. I then borrowed a neighbours working phone & plugged it into my socket to eliminate the possibility that it was my phone playing up. I think BT charge you if they're called out & the problem is your own phone. But with the neighbour's phone working OK at their house & not mine the problem had to be somewhere else. I rang BT & the engineer they sent round found the problem straight away - it was a wire left unplugged in one of their green junction boxes on a nearby street corner.
If you're still getting broadband that proves you're still connected OK to the exchange. Have you checked your leads & junction boxes? Have you tried plugging a different phone into your socket & seeing if the problem still remains? Good luck getting it fixed soon.

Tried all those things Scorpio. BT tested our line and did say it was a fault at their end. There has been a lot of work going on round here by BT over the last 2 weeks, so could be due to that. Thanks though.

Yes FC, they have been doing something there for about a week now. I am still without the telephone.

The phoneline was repaired this afternoon funkychick, so no more than one complete day without it.
