He'd probably do much better as an independent, a lot of my friends who liked him didn't vote for him last time simply because he was Labour.

He stood against Sonia Barker and some ex political correspondent from the bbc i think. They said that about Michael martin when he stood down.

I think Bob is the only man we have had who remotely had Lowestoft in his mind as opposed to himself and he was worth 10 peter Aldous s apologies to PA but whenever I ve spoken to him I ve not felt any passion Good luck to Bob I ll happily vote for him

I agree with FC in lots of ways but think he'd have been better standing as an Independant, labour will be a long, long time claiming any credibility.I also feel BB should expand his intrests a bit he seems too obsessed with windmills and third crossings.

I presume by BB you mean Bob Blizzard, OS.  People seem to refer to me by that abbreviation on her.  Could get confusing.  icon_scratch

Not Micheal Martin sorry he was speaker, Ian Gibson is what i meant, dont know how i got those two mised up Cheesy His website is still up and running. But the trouble the man from the BBC was he was from London I believe and could not really relate to Lowestoft issues. I think it would of been good if he stood as Independent Labour, but he loves the Labour party and the town so thats why he restood. I know he represents Labour but surely he cannot be blamed for what Mr Brown did, he is one voice out of 500 MP's and he did not have a cabinet position so therefore I would not have thought he would have had much sway over national issues. I would have much rather him stood as independent Labour as well.

I meant Mr Blizzard not the Boatbuilder, sorry for any confusion.
Thinking about it some more,I think maybe its time Bob Blizzard called it a day and made way for a younger man.At least he';ll then have first hand experience of what its like to surive on a pension, although I'd imagine the 'sconsultancies' he was able to line up before the election and his multi thousand pound golden handshake give him a distinct advantage.
Having said that anything has to be better than the invisible man AKA Peter Aldous.

I think the title "Bob is back" is a bit premature.

Mr. Bean is not invisible  -  he is busy "shoooing" off the seagulls and reporting them to Parliament.

Well thank you, Aussie.  I feel honoured.  I may have to reconsider my position on this forum and perhaps look to 'richer pastures' - 'richer' being the opportune word - I have actually won £50 on the 'Health Lottery' tonight.   laugh

3 numbers from 5.  The prizes are £50, £500, £100,000.  (Top prize not guaranteed as they say with all the fixed prize draws on the National Lottery).

To be honest when the time comes I doubt I'll vote for any of them.As soon as they are elected its noses in the trough and to hell with those that elected them.
The only politicians I have or had any real time for are Ann Widdecombe and Dennis Skinner. If ever they had a love child he'd be a certainty for PM.

Oh no please spare Lowestoft of another few years if Bob Bliz gets voted in again, it’s bad enough at the moment
With the invisible man or more like the Scarlet Pimpernel. So no thanks! Lowestoft needs someone else with a new and diff approach to Lowestofts problems.

And unlike the invisible man voted for allowing the British public to have a say as to wether we are allowed a referendum on being ruled by brussels or our own parliament.
Aldous was presumably too busy brown nosing to reflect on the damage the EU has done to his constituents.

"Our national interest is for us to be in the EU, helping to determine the rules governing the single market - our biggest export market which consumes more than 50 percent of our exports and which drives so much of investment in the UK.

I've never understood that view, if France left would we still not buy their wine? Won't we still have the same European customers for our goods if we left the EU? If we have the ability to determine the rules why has it taken so many decades to think about changing them?

Both Norway and Switzerland are not EU members and they are both well off and rich countrys, so for Camercon and the rest
of his liars its all about jobs for the boys when they leave office. After all just look at previous Leaders ie Neil Kinnock Leon Britton, Europe needs us to trade with more than we need Europe.  evil6

I agree with your point of view frankiesays, they buy goods off us & we of them, what may change a bit is if they put up trade barriers against us & I wouldn't know who it would effect the most.

I have never understood people saying there is a shortage of work, my thoughts on that is the systems in place at the moment do not adequately manage the wealth of knowledge we have as a nation, our manufacturing expertise & our money supply to enable all able bodied people  to do the work that is needed and to ensure as far as possible that we all share in that wealth according to our abilities & efforts.
Our main problem is not that we don't export enough but that we import too much.

I put the bait on the hook & caught a flounder or was it a flounderer.
A bit of seriousness now andree why oh why do you not attempt  to genuinely debate a topic when some person puts over an idea or point of view, add to it, contradict or criticise it with out sledging up reams of what other people might think, I feel sure you would get to enjoy this debating better.
All of us could use other peoples diatribes just the same as you but it will all be what they concoct up for their own self interests.

Andree, will you not agree that if we all, all the time just kept putting in these links which is always other people's thinking, it would or could get very boring and there would be no point in any of us being in a debate.

It's complicated. I guess the euro-zone will be split into euro- currency and euro banks (as a euro state country) and others eg GB who will be euro-orbit countries and not politically/financially tied. This actually is potentially good for GB. imo.

I will give a try agian Aussie k, but when I have previously stated an opinion I have been asked to add a link - not sure if this happened to anyone else? -
I think links have become way too much of an obsession on this site.   Unfortunate sign of the times I suppose.

Phew FL someone talking my language I think links can be important to prove a point  but can override any kind of conversation. If youre in a room of people having an argument or debate you dont keep stopping to find a link Obviously if someone says well I dont believe that you may need to prove it but its almost an obsession now every statement however futile has to backed up with a link

Glad you agree FC.  It's especially wrong to ask for a link to support someone's own opinion.
We tend to get loads of stuff out of newspapers posted and links, links, links .........  We can all read the papers and find what interests us, and see the same things over and over on TV.

I see Elliot Morley the man who as fishing minister fiddled (his expenses) whilst the fishing industry vanished is back too after serving just a quarter of his sentance wearing his Rolex in an open easy peasy prison.
Time was when traitors were sent to the tower.

The decommisioning of fishing boats with the grants for doing so and the sharing out of what were our fishing grounds to foreigners were handled by a man now recognised as a fiddler and a thief. So how sure are we that it was done honestly?.
It certainly left the British with a fleet that would fit in a large paddling pool but a select few ended up much better off whilst the vast majority faced the sack.
As the biggest supplier of the fishing fleets sailing out of Lowestoft I kept hearing Morley and Bobby telling me that there would be compensation for me and others affected by the elimination of these boats.Neither wanted to know when the sell out finally happened and as we suspected all along the other suppliers and myself got beggar all.
