My mouse has died suddenly « Posted: 13 October 2011 at 09:37 PM »

. . . and, hopefully, gone to Mouse Heaven!  Urgently need suggestions for a replacement device.  The deceased one was a Logitech LX8 Laser cordless - and I’d like to stay with that brand - unless you know better!  Looked at that makers range - and ended up more confused that I already am!  Roll Eyes
It needs to be a standard sized device - not one of these diddy ones!

Any thoughts, please?

Any mouse will do, they should all work and self install when you plug it in. Don't go for one with grey whiskers is the only advice I can give.

Of course, as a generalisation, “any mouse will do” - but, sometimes users want the device for a specific need or usage - so that’s why, in many cases, just “any mouse” won’t do.

I haven't got a google problem or a dead mouse but all of a sudden my windows are long and narrow when I open them. One click will bring them to max but it is annoying and nothing will alter it .

Did you get the updates that arrived around the 12th?  “My” problems seem to have started around then - probably just coincidental!

Can’t offer any suggestions about the Windows “problem” that you’ve got - if no other ideas are posted, it might be worth doing a System Restore - with a “Restore Point” prior to when you first noticed this problem.

Trigger, the LX8 is no longer a current model. The replacement is the M510, which is laser, wireless, 5 button.
On Amazon for £27 which seems a very good price.

Personally I'd always stick with Logitech. Microsoft do some nice ones, but they never feel as solid, built to last, or comfortable as Logitechs.

Stu - realised that the LX was no longer made - perused the website and, by a series of deductions(!) had whittled the choice down to one - the M510! - and have ordered one!  Which only goes to show that "Great Minds DO think alike"!  Grin

Thanks for info.
John

PS You recommended me the LX8!

I could remember recommending a mouse on here previously, but wasn't totally sure if it was to you.
Disappointing that the LX8 hasn't lasted you longer. Did you squeeze it too tight and suffocate it?

fc: Could I point out that the other Obituary thread is for Celebrities (or should I say ex-Celebrities).  Neither I nor my ex-mouse have achieved achieved such status.

Well, of course, I don't know what it gets up to when I'm not at home.  I have heard rumours that it's a direct descendent of a mouse named Mickey.  Roll Eyes
