We had Radio Veronica ,
I can remember that the ship was in a storm from the sea on the beach ended, many people made a day out of it to watch,
I thought it was Scheveningen ....
( hope this is good english - understandable )

Yes, I understand that, Corine. I remember hearing of that Radio Station, although I don't think we could receive that where I lived then. Maybe they could in Lowestoft.

I remember Radio Veronica. They used to go through the top ten every day just after we came home from school. I heard a tune on there which took me days to decipher what it was called. It was Spooky's Day Off by the Swinging Soul Machine - I still have the 45 I bought after hearing it. One thing that still makes me feel depressed when I think of the radio programme - "Sing Something Simple" an incredibly boring programme that came on after Alan Freeman's top 40 and signalled the end of the weekend, the weekly bath and ready for bed for school on Monday morning.

yes that's right, the lion Loekie always came between the commercials,
I think it's been 10 years no more on TV
it started in the early 70 till early 2000 I think ,
Loekie never spoke much , he only said " asje me nou "......
something like " how is that posible "...
Oh and that tune, that was always the same , if you heard it you knew that the commercials began.
I found some Dutch TV on YouTube....
With Loekie de Leeuw

I would stay with my aunt in Ipswich quite often and we would have the radio on before we went to sleep. She listened to a lot of boring stuff too, to me it seemed very old fashioned. The best thing was she would fall asleep and I could read until midnight without getting into trouble.
I loved Tony Prince on radio luxembourg because he played a lot of the Osmonds! My sun eve was spent in the btw listening to radio 1 and the top 20 countdown. It took an hour so my skin would be very wrinkly by the time I got out!
