Time To Go Mr Draper « Posted: 08 October 2011 at 12:53 PM »

Is the front page headline of the journal this week. He should go now rather than keep dragging what left of WDC s reputation through the mud. His position is untenable and its only a matter of time before he does go, so better it is now.
This is my call for his resignation.

Well if he does go it will mean we will have a hung council again and the torys will have to fight for a regaining of the seat which could only be a good thing as the torys only got control by one person siding with them. It should get interesting i dont care about the guy really and in all honesty he is not the first to have done such a thing so i dont see what the problem is really apart from the council situation.

That link is not valid, Malcolm.  Perhaps this is the one:

Hes obviously a very arrogant man who thinks hes made a 'little mistake' which everyone will forget and forgive WDC has prove itself yet again to be weak and yes he must go and give his constituants the chance to vote for someone with a bit more integrity.

The whole Tory/Labour thing here was flawed and should NEVER have gone into Tory hands that was a definate manipulation, similar to when George Bush didnt get in but then on a recount suddenly had a few extra votes enough to put him into office

All corrupt

The scandal is the "Do you know I'm a councillor officer?" bit as much as anything else. A clear indication that he ,like so many of his cronies think that their 'position' gives them immunity from the laws of the land the rest of us have to obey.
He should have been arrested for abuse of public office.
He is clearly arrogant and without integrity, well suited to a position at WDC then.

Links, links, links,  ......................  becoming such an obsession on here.
As pointed out in the beginning  - it's in the local paper. Anyone can access it wherever they live.
Does anyone else deplore great chunks of newspaper stuff (in other topics) and links, when we can all read papers?

No.I don't normally bother to read the Journal as I don't consider it value for money and to be hopelessly biased. However very occasionally there's a story worth reading so a link to it is fine.

I dont mind the links so much as you can choose to go on or not but the extra long narrative which are then repeated in the link are pointless and irritating  for me

I think the last few posts have said it all about links.  I will just add that I rarely buy newspapers full of adverts when I can access all the news I want online.  Naturally you can't be expected to read everything so I hadn't read the link that malcolm so kindly endeavoured to post earlier when I asked about it in post#2.  On reading Malcolm's OP, Mr Draper didn't mean an awful lot to me, that's why I asked about a link.

Does that mean John that if everyone got their news online and no papers were bought the lack of revinue would cause all the papers to go bust and the web sites close down?

Back on track..... I think if the Tory s had dropped Mr Draper as soon as it happened they may got away with it. Leaving it so long will do then a lot of damage at the next elections.

There are plenty of sources online for news other than newspaper websites.  Yahoo, Google, MSN,  and BBC to name just a few.

Yes i never buy papers anymore mainly due to adds and all the stupid lies they tell. Also must admit the journal website is very poor to what it used to be. It used to tell you everything and was really good but now its very poor just like the paper itself which is a shame but i guess its down to cost cutting as archant made a big loss recently.

It seems as though his cronies are determined to protect him.In a proper job in the real world he'd have been slung out on his ear.
All tarred with the same brush as far as I'm cioncerned, all in it for self advancement, wouldn't give you tuppence for the lot of them.

Nice to see Mr Draper is putting Waveney on the map once more. He has again made the pages of Private Eye.

MPs and councillors.
They all tell us they started in politics because they believed they could make a difference.Within days of starting they all have their noses in the trough, and they stay there untill election time comes round again. The only difference they worry about is the amount of money they have.

Re: Time To Go Mr Draper « Reply #26 Posted: 15 October 2011 at 11:27 PM »

To be fair to Mr Draper, he is in a difficult situation. As the council is in a 50/50 balance, if he was to resign then the Labour  group could force a re-election of council seats. This would then put a Labour member as Chair. So even if the people of Worlingham were to re-elect a Conservative person to WDC, the council would remain Labour controlled. He can either hold on to his seat, or hand it on a plate to labour. Not a choice I would like to make.

"To be fair to Mr Draper"
He's not fit to hold any sort of office and should be kicked out.If his cronies suffer as a result it serves them right for not acting sooner and for protecting him.
