New Premier Inn extension « Posted: 07 October 2011 at 01:53 PM »

It's always surprised me just how many tourists we must get here. First with the Travelodge being built, and how Premier Inn at the Foxborough are expanding to over double their capacity.

Do that many people really come to Lowestoft? Not saying it's a bad place to come at all, I'm just really surprised at how many people must be coming here to need so many hotels. With the 2 Winelodges that have opened in the past few years and the refurbishments at Hotel Hatfield and The Wherry.

It's definitely not a bad thing! just very surprising!

There are a lot less hotels than there used to be though. All of middle-drive used to be hotels - and busy ones too.

I told my girlfriend I had a job in a bowling alley. She said 'Tenpin?' I said, 'No, permanent.'

Hopefully the more people that are staying in the UK for their holidays can continue this (i hate using the word 'staycation' urghh). With 2 new caravan parks at North Denes and and the plans for another at Kessingland, hopefully next in the pipeline is something for people to do whilst they're here!

It also makes me wonder if all the jobs and wealth that is to be created by the offshore energy industry is to be believed, then new companies that set up in town will cause a bit more business travel to the town with local hotels benefiting.

Must admit though everytime i have been to a premier inn the majority of poeple staying there were business people rather than holiday makers or tourists etc.
