Lowestofts CCTV.Is it any good?. « Posted: 05 October 2011 at 12:21 PM »

For well over a year some yob has been dumping televisions, chairs, clothes and bags of rubbish in the alley behind the Tuttles eyesore. The cost of removing this rubbish sometimes two or three times a week for this length of time must be quite something, and comes out of the council coffers.
On Saturday I saw someone dumping a television,I was unable to catch him but saw where he'd come from and phoned the council as he had to pass CCTV cameras on his dumping foray and the return trip.I assume he came back later as two bags of videos, some nappies and more refuse in a bag were left later on.
I phoned the council who said they'd have a look at the CCTV footage,I was able to give them a description,a very accurate time and date and tell them where he'd passed the cameras.
Apparently he must have been wearing an invisibilty cloak as they can't see him.Rather than having police on the streets to stop crimes we've been conned into accepting cameras that supposedly record activity to act on later but judging by this episode they don't work.Hopefully they can be got working before something more serious happens in the Station Square/London Road North area.

It must have been a different camera to the ones mentioned in the journal the other week that have been 'highly successful' with a 55% (ish) success rate... He probably was picked up by them but the authorities probably thought there wasn't enough to go on.

I appreciate that Old Spice's point is that the images are not captured, or it is claimed they are not.
Even when they do get pictures - they are usually of such poor quality that people are not recogniseable anyway.
It's like looking through a bowl of porridge. There were several in the Journal not long ago. Absolute cr8p.This is an updated system - isn't it?
Surely in this day of fantastic technology they could use a better camera?
A while ago, some police authority had to send their CCTV pics to America to be "modified" so they had some chance of recognising the villains.

Is it the same person dumping all this different stuff? Maybe they are running a 'waste disposal business' and just dumping everything they get there. You tend to get blackspots for this, another i can think of is Just north of Corton village where the old railtrack passes stirrups lane. Utter scumbags.

I don't know,I suppose its possible as so far maybe fourty teles have been dumped one after the other.Perhaps they're ones taken into one of the shops that buy secondhand gear that they don't buy and the people can't be bothered to lug them about any further. The bags of videos were to many to be some private collection and possibly came from a video shop,.
If they CCTV couldn't even see him then it's a waste of time relying on it for any serious events.
It's not just a Lowestoft problem half the CCTV footage shown on things like crimewatch are a waste of time, one I saw convinced me Dale Winton has been  mugging OAPs in Manchester.

Since my last post, bags of food,a carpet or two and a further five teles some with remotes have been dumped one after the other.Too many for any individual to own so presumably the TVs are either trade waste or ones that the second hand shops refused to take in.
The CCTV has come up with zilch.
