No - it should stay as it is.
Don't care

Sounds good! But are you telling us that drivers would no longer use their phone, change a CD, eat, drink ect while driving?

Of course some will and some will also be doing my pet hate which is smoking. If can get fined for eating my pasty whilst driving so can somebody who is smoking. I've been with several drivers in the past when the end of their fag has fallen out between their legs causing immediate panic. They also have to be careful what they do with a fag if they suddenly need both hands - I can just drop my pasty without worrying about setting fire to the car. But before anybody pulls me up on it I am just using the word "pasty" as an example.

If the limit was raised to 80mph, then would the 'normal' speed be in the 85-90 mph range? or would there be a zero tolerance to speeding/ pasty munching / working out which way was west Smiley ?

In my particular case it's mostly a children carrier  -apart from the current Mrs H but she has her moments!  Grin

Judging by what you've told us on here Frankie, with all the travelling up and down the M6 on business I would say it's a one-man-carrier.   Grin

I returned home from Oxfordshire on Thursday morning with lots of time to spare so decided to give BB's theory of "drive slower - get there quicker" a test. I set the cruise control to 60 MPH, put on a CD and prepared for a leisurely journey home. After the first 15 mins the traffic came to a standstill for 45 minutes due to a truck fire, it was only a mile ahead of me so I would have missed it if I had been doing 70 MPH but that was just coincidence. I then had to take a detour because the M6 was closed after Preston. After deducting my hold-ups from the calculation I arrived home 40 minutes later than usual. My conclusion - drive slower = get home later.

That is why I removed both hold-up times from my calculation FC. As I said in my post, after removing those holdups from my calculation I STILL arrived home 40 mins later. icon_scratch

What is the total milage from start to finish on your trip frankiesays?
I also travel to far flung places in this country and I only use 60MPH as a top speed.
from Oxfordshire to Suffolk and to only have a 40 minute added even with the hold ups and the detour is "I" think quite good going considering you have had a reduction in wear on your vehicle and should have also seen a slight fuel saving.
