TalkTalk was the most complained about telephone and broadband provider in the first six months of 2011, according to telecoms regulator Ofcom.

The company, which currently sponsors ITV's The X-Factor, had more complaints about its phone service between April and June than BSkyB, BT Retail and Virgin. More of its broadband customers also complained during that period than those of BSkyB, BT Retail, Virgin and Orange. Virgin was the least complained about provider in both cases.

This was the second quarter running that TalkTalk topped Ofcom's complaints list for both services.
TalkTalk's landline service had 0.8 complaints for every 1,000 customers, while it's broadband division had 0.58 complaints for every 1,000 customers. This compares to Virgin with 0.15 complaints in both cases.

Although the number of complaints about TalkTalk has fallen significantly over the past year, the latest data will still come as a blow to the company which, along with its subsidiary Tiscali UK, was last month fined £3m for incorrectly billing 65,000 customers for services they had not received. It is the largest financial penalty ever imposed on a telecoms provider by Ofcom.

Strangely enough I  can't fault them, compared to when I was with BT.   Likewise my mobile phone provider is '3' which apparently came out the worst on mobiles and again I have no problems with them either.

Boatbuilder: Whilst these “surveys” - or whatever they are - are the usual things dished out every so often - based on how many complaints are received.

So - compare that to how many customers didn’t complain about either service - and it’s a hell of a lot more people!  Pro rata - far more people were satisfied with TalkTalk than were dissatisfied!  Doesn't that rather negate the report?

I always say - as long as you’re satisfied with the product / service that you buy - does it matter what others say?

James: Whilst I understand you're a very disatisfied customer (ex customer?) of Orange - there must be thousands who are satisfied.  But knowing what you told us on here about Orange - I think I'd have been shouting my disatisfaction even louder than you!

I have to confess im still with Orange after the cock up earlier in the year, in the end the explanations given were satisfactory and it wasn't entirely their fault, they did also compensate for their poor customer service. Touch wood i've had no problems since and speed has improved.

Eventually managed to leave talk talk to go to BT now a happy bunny

Have Vodafone mobile been with them since the very start when I came over from cel-net tellicom (happy with them)
and have had Talk talk mobile (was very disapointed with some of the service)
Had Orange mobile and very very disapointed with that.
