Was googling around and came across an interesting BBC webpage - "The Rise and Fall of the Fishing Industry on England’s East Coast" - it has a number of short film clips of the fishing industry - including 6 from Lowestoft.

“The twentieth century was a turbulent time for the fishing industry in Britain. We examine the rise and fall of the industry and capture people’s first-hand experiences of chasing the shoals.”

Have you heard the excellent recording “Singing the Fishing”?  This was originally written for the radio (a Radio Ballad) - and is very interesting - combining folk songs / the recorded reminiscences of fishermen of the time, and sound recordings.  Here’s a Link to a BBC article about the programme.  Amazon still sell the recording (although today they only have one copy left) - but very highly recommended if you have an interest in the Fishing Industry.

I will look out for the book FC, sounds interesting. I would also recommend Singing The Fishing. I recorded this off the radio some years ago, it was part of a series of radio ballads produced by Charles Parker. It has some genuine recordings of fishermen, some from Lowestoft,  talking about life on the boats, as well as an excellent sound track of music and verse by Ewan MacColl.
