breakfast
« Posted: 17 September 2011 at 06:32 AM »
As i work in Lowestoft on shifts and live 20 miles away, sometimes i have the need to go into town from work.On nights i finish at 7am and i can kill 45mins at an all night supermarket but then i cant find a cafe that opens at 8am for breakfast. Lighthouse not till 9am, asda 8.30 etc. I discount McDonalds of course and when i tried the one on Cooke Rd Ind Est that i saw signposted, it looked such a grubby little portacabin that i couldnt bring myself to go in. SO can anyone suggest where i might get breakfast at 8am around here please??

I think you are thinking of the 'Europa' Funkychick which is just around the corner in Waveney Road which closed down earlier in the year.

Morrsions Supermarket opens (including cafe) at 8am. They make excellent Bacon Sarnies there - but not had a Breakfast as such - perhaps I'll take that on as a challenge!

I can't speak from personal experience but I believe that the portacabin you mentioned does good food. The appearance I have no idea about.

It does good food, Meryl. It is mostly frequented by the refuse collector men ( and a couple of refuse collector women) as well as workers on the estate.
Until about a couple of years ago, it was owned and run by an ex-LOL member and his wife. Frank and Judy.

Morrison's do the best breakfast you can find and very reasonable too. If I have to start off early in the morning I try to get to my meeting place early and then find a Morrison's via my satnav - how sad is that!

It is not sad, it is doing the things that you enjoy.

Just think - if you didn't have your SatNav . . . . you wouldn't get a breakfast!

I had a look at Woodbines in Suffolk road last time I was down that way and they open at 06:30 on weekdays, 07:00 on Saturdays.
I haven't been there for quiet a while but I believe it is still under the same ownership so the mealsshould be OK.

I used to deliver sausages to the Woodbine when I worked for Frank Cooks butchers in the mid 70's. They did great food and it was so much easier than pulling a trawler in by the ropes on a frosty day to deliver to them. My favourite delivery was to the Corella - they gave e a cup of cocoa and a bacon roll.
