Alzheimers
« Posted: 15 September 2011 at 08:14 PM »
It is sad news that someone i know had to go into a home with Alzheimers disease, it has got to the stage where they could no longer look after themselves. I know its sad seeing someone decline so much through this cruel illness, but the worst part is after they have worked all their lives, contributed to the national pot through taxes and everything else, they have a home of their own, but in order to be in a home, the house will have to be sold and everything else. It just does not seem fair, the government will not even pay a penny towards their care

It does seem unfair 728 my close relative is in a care home because of Alzheimers but she now has NHS paying for her care as it is severe It would be worth checking this out It is called NHS Continuing Care they do a number of assessments before deciding and it can rest in the balance, also if there is someone else over 60 living in the family home they cant make them sell it. If you dont own your own home the goverment fund your care home fees if you dont have a lot of savings.

I saw in the papers yesterday that they think a regular large dose of vitamin B can keep it at bay for longer. My grandmother, mother and her brother have all died because of it. If the sufferer can be kept at home until they get to a point where they can be sectioned their care is then paid for.
