In the throes of the rioting, it now seems that any form of public disturbance is to be cracked down on. A man has been arrested and charged for using technology to try and set up a fight in a town centre.... a water fight. Is this really such a bad thing to be frowned upon?!

In the present climate - definitely yes. And, as has already been said - he’s obviously got too much time on his hands. He says, according to the article, it’s for a water fight - oh yes? If people respond to his invite - how does he know that they will only be armed with water pistols - or whatever? Will they be checked before they get there? If it were to go ahead - I would hope the Police will already be there - with water cannons.

The person in question obviously has no friends to have his own water fight in his own garden at home, away from others.

I am glad that they may be less tolerant with people aiming to cause trouble or of people wearing hoods or masks when it may seem likely that they are up to no good. I couldn't accept Cameron's words of "they will be ripped off there heads" but I see no problem in ordering them to be removed for photographing or identification.

I can understand arresting someone for inciting violence - but a water fight?! Next thing you know little 10 year old boys will be arrested for carrying imitation firearms.

Seems to me, JJ, that, as is your wont, you look at things simply as presented in the “narrow” facts given in the media. You don’t seem to look at it from a wider perspective. What if it’s a “cover” for something else? You simply don’t know what is behind this “invitation”.

Even if its a real water fight dont you think grown men organising this in town centre would not only cause a lot of trouble( can you not imagine the water flying over everyone walking past) but the potential to turn into a real fight when one water bomb hits someone full in the face
What on earth are 20 year olds doing trying to organise a water fight in the town centre, the whole point is they arent 7 year olds playing I m glad he was arrested and charged perhaps he ll find a more useful hobby

When I was an irresponsible 18yr old, I lived in Beccles town centre, and a few times we had waterfights in and around the streets using water pistols and balloons. It was just a couple of us larking about, and I fail to see why this could be construed as a crime!

Well then the problem lies with your thinking JJ
When you were 'larkin ' about in Beccles 'town' centre were you on your blackberry organising for the troops to join you

There was a giant pillow fight in Burlington Vt a couple of years ago. I think the organizer got into trouble with the law although it was "harmless fun" you can never be sure these days who might infiltrate an event and turn it into something nasty.
