William Brighton Boatbuilder
« Posted: 07 August 2011 at 11:42 AM »
I was a trustee of Lucy Brighton's estate, deceased 1994 and am researching her family tree. Her Grandfather William Brighton built The Wherry Albion in 1898 on Lake Lothing. He was William Leaman Brighton born 1837 0r 1941 died 1915 age listed as 74.
I have visited his grave and that of his son, also William died aged 60 in 1938. Am looking for information on William Leaman. Believed to have married Martha Caroline b1853 d1932 Mutford. He is said to have been married previously.
Also looking too at his Father William, also a boatbuilder m 1841 to Martha Leaman, hence the name being carried forward.
I have records of the areas they lived and years the boats were built.
Lowestoft records office are helping me and I plan to visit them again this month.
Does anyone have any information on this please. Christine

Afraid not, Meryl. I don't originate from these parts and have only been in boatbuilding for 11 years.
