UFOs - do they exist?! « Posted: 04 August 2011 at 12:45 AM »

Over the years, many people have claimed to have seen UFOs, or alien spacecraft.  Some are described as flying saucers, others as long cylinders.  Well, now a Radio 5 journalist has come forward with his own personal encounter.  Whether you think they are merely weather balloons, or military top-secret aircraft, or whether we are truly 'not alone', it seems like "something" is happening.

What do you think about alien encounters??

People want to believe in them, that's why they can - & do.
Sadly no defining proof for all the 'Doubting Thomases' out there.

The bit i find hard to believe is the fact that all the billions of years this Earth has been here and they have not tried to make contact. I am sure there is a planet if not many out there, but why would they travel all this way to hover for a few seconds and then disappear. Have there been any cases where a space craft has been found on the ground?  Huh

ITHINK: Roswell, some place in wiltshire Rendlesham forest,Brazil and various othe places in South america.
Stephen Hawkins do not poo poo it he says dont encourage them...When they did the Seti experiment an scientist heard something which was not natural and first thing he said was WOW and that has become known as the WOW experiment.
it would be incredably arrogent think we the only ones.A good book to read is Timmothy Good called 'Beyond top secret'
they say if a human can concieve of something then it logical it happens, although that is contencious just one of many different philophers opinions.
my uncle was colonel in u.s.a airforce when he was in the airforce and anyone asked him he go nuts not talk about it,but when he retired he ok to talk to and he said there were many things he saw up in sky that could not be accounted for, when asked if goverment knew he would not comit himself to say anything. It is thought the president is going to announce something before summer is over

every sci-fi fan since the 60s has read of the Star Trek non-interference directive, which does make sense, so if there really are 'visitors' we'd be a bit arrogant to expect to want to make contact rather than observe.

We're fascinated with the pyramids and ancient civilisations like the Incas - even time team shows how interested we are in what our ancestors did. It's easy to think that people from somewhere else would find us interesting, even if just because of the crazy things we do to each other?

I never said we are the only ones, i reckon there is other life forms on other planets. I just find it hard to believe that they are given the same image as the inflatable aliens you win at fun fairs. Surely they would look something simiar to us?

prime directive paual...we assume all life comes from carbon star dust but some could come from silicon then be cery different..
i was watching documentary today and said take  there 100.000 stars in just our area of milky way with planets and only one planet per star had life then thats 1000 planets that could be like us.They did experiment sent alot of brillient mathmaticians different codes the princple being the product of two primary numbers, not one was able to see this,so on that basis then other life may well have tried contact just we dont understand it

UFOs definitelty exist as they are just flying objects the observer cannot identify, but that doesn't make them aliens.

Had to smile at this in relation to the thread title; being myself a normal 'non expert' birder it happens quite a lot when feathered things fly over giving only brief views!
