A black bee ,they are three times as long as a normal bee and no very good tempered .My "pet" Gecko think it's decided I'm not a threat and I can get a bit closer than I could .

Good pictures of the Black Bee and the Gecko. My cat doesn't like Black Bees - but he's just a "scaredy-cat"!

A pretty pest .........this butterfly lays it's eggs in the stems of geraniums and the stem above the hole dies ,often the whole plant dies.

“Painted Stork” (Mycteria leucocephala) is a large wading bird in the stork family. This one had picked up a large twig and was proudly carrying it around the enclosure.

No nest in the bushes as: "They nest colonially in trees." I think it had found the twig and wanted everyone to see it!

Beetles, think it's a type of scarab . There's been several in my garden the last few days .When they land they end up on their backs buzz around in a circle and right themselves .

The bird is either a cormorant or sh#g and I think the dragonfly is a 'common darter'...both seen on Carlton Marshes.

Hi Mel, the bird is a cormorant the white face thick bill and general bulkyness of it is the main ID features. Another thing is habitat, Carlton Marshes isnt the right place to have a shag, Cormorants are more numerous and more widespread inland whereas shags are more at the coast, sea cliffs.
