Bed Bugs « Posted: 25 July 2011 at 07:40 AM »

Hi everyone,

How are you all on this fine morning?

Just looking for some advice on infestations and what to do about these nasty little critters after having the professionals in twice with no result!  crybaby2

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks

Zoe.

If is a mattress, I suggest that you get rid and get a new one. If the professionals can't succeed then that is the answer I'm afraid.

Thank you Meryl, They were brought to my home by our tenant as we rent our room! we did get rid of her bed in the small room, she then decided to move to the big room where she then began to be bitten again! I wasn't being bitten in the first instance, and havent been for the last two days until last night =( I have read up about them and know they are a nightmare to get rid of! I am very tempted to just vacate our property and leave everything here as I feel at my wits end after having the whole house sprayed, it is getting to the point where I am far to worried to sleep at night knowing that I am being feasted on lol... I think maybe moving would be the only option now. Thank you for your comment.

You may leave, but you'll return

Ive never had these little demons but it sounds as if they are getting moved from room to room and like fleas it only takes one or two to breed a million you probably need to move out and have the professionals in again  they will be in all the furnishings I would think oh dear sounds a nightmare dont envy you but maybe the lodger is carrying them around with her and maybe she needs to be the mover

lol funkychick at the lodger being the mover, problem is that I am still left with the situation.. I know bedbugs can and will go anywhere as they are small and rather thin until feeding. They can also be transported in clothing which really freaks me out! I have given up hope on the professionals to be honest, I have found a website for a product called protecter c which has good reviews. I feel so unsettled by all this and I am getting married this Saturday coming and have other things to be doing! I do know Bedbugs are attracted to the Carbon dioxide in the breath. I feel like the bedbug master lol but getting rid of them is another story all together. It is amazing how such a small bug can make me feel the way I do. =(

Heating seems to be a solution as SD says.

Here is a site that reccomends an industrial type steam cleaner to get rid of them along with other potential solutions. Maybe worth a try.

May I ask if you are renting the property or is it yours and you are letting it out. If you are renting off a landlord, I would assume that it is his responsibility to have it safe otherwise he should not be taking money off you.

None of use have traveled abroad although our tenant is slovakian and travels home, she hasn't traveled to Slovakia whilst living here though, I do believe she was being bitten before she came here which I was unaware about! We have never had any problem like this before she came in the year we have owned our property. I have seen the heat treatments that are available which are very costly and not 100% on eradication. Once you have bedbugs it is very difficult to get rid of them because they breed at such fast rates as long as their buffet (ME!) is there to feed on. I have just called the company who has been out twice to see if they had any further advice and how to move forward with this, I was told someone would call me back, I was told this before and I was not contacted so I mentioned this and the receptionist laughed and said oh really? What is it with me and bad customer service experiences?? lol! I am so thankful to you all for your advice and comments, I feel this has helped me air my stress lol as I feel to pull out my hair! lol Can not wait until Saturday when I marry my best friend and stay in a bed bug free hotel for the night lol x
