Just arrived. « Posted: 16 July 2011 at 09:57 AM »

Good morning everybody.  I've only just joined and it's a bit of a case of trial and error at the moment as there seems to be quite alot going on here and I'm not sure what I'm doing.  I just did a post to Ken's Corner; finger's crossed that went okay.

I stumbed across the site when I was Googling for something else.  Never did find what I was looking for because I got immersed in reading old debates about Pakefield.  I was born in Prospect Place in 1953 and attended Pakefield School from 1958 to 1965.  Unfortunately I no longer live in Pakefield - we moved to Cambridgeshire in 1986 - but I visit regularly as my dad still lives there.

It's still my favourite place to be, with so many memories.  So glad I found this forum.

Welcome to the forum! wave

A very diverse forum from serious debates to more laid back photo threads and quizzes etc... If got any questions about the town then you should find answers here, if not start a thread.

Trouble is with these abbreviations is 'double meanings'.  I am often referred to as 'BB' but sometimes they use that same abbreviation when referring to 'Broadband'.   I get so confused!   icon_scratch

I don't know FC, I'm just concerned I might confuse you with Lowestoft Town FC.   icon_scratch  Grin

Hi everybody who has made me so welcome.  Can't wait to get started posting some reminiscences.  Still not too sure how to navigate round the forum as there seems to be so many different "departments".  Oh well, nothing ventured....

Hi to Snowdrop, who has asked about shops which are now flats in Pakefield.  Can you tell me which particular buildings you are referring to?  I can think of one or two shops which have been converted - for example Riley's, which was on the corner of Saxon and Florence Roads and for quite a long time was a sort of work shop for antique fireplaces, but I see it is now a dwelling, and looks very smart, I think.     I used to go in Riley's to buy my Monkees collectors cards in 1966-67.  Just think, if Ken hadn't gone to Australia, I would probably have bought them at his shop.....

Welcome PB&B  hello I really hope you enjoy the site and if you need any help using the site you only have to ask we are a friendly bunch and there is always someone who can help you.

My sons went to Pakefield Primary & Middle School...now they are building a High School there and the crane they are using has a wonderful view into all the gardens in the area  Undecided
