From twelve & a half years old until i was sixteen & a half I went to pianoforte lessons, I had to practice for thirty minutes each week day and then one hour each of Saturdays & Sundays no matter what, or however cold it was. In the winter I had to light the valour stove in an attempt to keep me warm those days central heating & double glazing were unheard of, the house was stone cold. I did manage to pass a number of exams but in the sixty or so years gone by since then I have let it all go rusty.

My car radio is tuned to Classic FM as is my radio at work.   Have always been a lover of classical since I was at school and learnt the violin and played in a youth orchestra near where I lived.  Haven't played it for years though - will be VERY rusty now.

My favourite classical piece is not on violin but on guitar -  Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquín Rodrigo.

Aussie: I can relate to that! I started piano aged 8 - and in those days we lived in a large house.  The piano was in the lounge - which was huge and, in the winter, I too had to light the Valor paraffin heater - and then, after playing for about 10 minutes had to stop to thaw out my fingers!  Had lessons for about 5 years - then my teacher had to give up - and I refused to go to another teacher!  Always had a piano (got to Grade 6) and kept up playing over the years.

Then some years ago I tentatively started along another “music” path - which, so to speak, added another "string to my bow"!

I'll guess that JJ listens to Punk, Andre listens to Gregorian chants and FC listens to Country and Robbie Williams  Wink

NEVER listen to Punk!  lol
As an old weary DJ, I like all types of music, but not keen on punk and some opera is hard to get into.  Currently listening to a boxset of worship songs to get me into the mood for Church tonight.  For some people they get a buzz from drink or drugs, for me it is strangely listening to music and Christian music in particular.  Helps of course that I have the words to 'sing' along to!
