"Java" problem
« Posted: 14 July 2011 at 02:28 PM »
Recently had another Senior Moment (I know I’m too young - but . . ) and deleted Java - with the aim of downloading the latest version and installing that.I used “Revo Uninstaller” (Free version) which also allows removal of some relevant files from the Registry.
I’ve downloaded the latest Java program - however, when I try to install it, a message pops up: “This software has already been installed on your computer. Would you like to reinstall it? So, I Click “yes”. Then a new message appears: “This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.”
I’m now feeling very “Confused.com”! Any kind person willing to offer advice - other than “remember the old saying “If it ain’t broke - don’t try to fix it.”

Thank you kind sir. I found the System Restore point for when I deleted Java - so used that.
In my defence (and my lawyer always said to have a good defence at the ready!) I had received a couple of "Fatal Error" reports for Java - got annoyed with it - and . . . you can probably guess the rest . . .
I'll keep
everything
crossed in the hope that Java is now fully restored!
Thanks again.

Snowdrop: I would think it's an update for Java.

Sunny: I would think that the “badges” you refer to indicated that there were updates to download/install (for Windows). It’s most likely they have now been installed onto your computer - and, once that’s done, the “badges” (which are just “indicators”) will be removed.

Thanks for that Trigger, it will help me if I get them again, so were they reminding me to install the updates , or wanting my permission for want of a better word, nice to see you again.
also I now know they are "Indicators"
