The bridge can be redesigned and rebalanced. It's now an old bridge and several hundreds of thosands of pounds are required just to maintain it.

SCC have no idea about the traffic problems in Lowestoft.

So we get a pedestrian swing bridge..

DUH!

whatever next!

free roller skates for those who leave their car at home!

So what do you suggest Dave? Another road crossing has been talked about for years, and is still no closer to happening. I am pretty sure SCC has looked at ways of increasing the capacity of the bridge. I assume that's why it now has 3 lanes instead of 2. One way of reducing congestion is to reduce the amount of cars taking short trips. It has been done in many Dutch towns, so why not in Lowestoft?

The bridge is old and needs replacing
I work in NL too and their roads and cycle lanes are fantastic
Lowestoft suffers from lack of vision and planning.
Lowestoft needs the 3rd crossing for many reasons
Unfortunately SCC dont do the obvious.
Too risk adverse, a million pound study/report they out source and nothing happens...

I agree with you on most of your points. But why do we need a third crossing when we have four already (with a fifth planned)?

Another road crossing isn't likely to happen for many years or even decades, so we need to look for alternatives. I keep asking this question but have yet to hear a reply.
