Swimming Pool « Posted: 02 July 2011 at 09:38 AM »

Can anyone tell me if Lowestoft has a swimming pool? And if so where is it? I've lived in Lowestoft 5 years now and have never come across it. I used to swim frequently but since moving 'across the border' I've not been.

Thanks.

Only problem is Becky you may find it not in use at the moment they are doing big improvements to the whole building and  the pool was out of use for quite a  few months as far as I know it not reopening until winter so maybe a phone call would e best I know my grand kids have lessons there and are having to use a small alternative training pool at Ashley school until Christmas

Lowestoft leisure centre's £6.5m facelift under way
The pool at Waterlane Leisure Centre is to get a moveable floor The £6.5m redevelopment of a leisure centre in a Suffolk town is about to get under way.

Waveney District Council and Pulse Fitness have signed contracts to begin the complete refurbishment of Waterlane leisure centre in Lowestoft.

In 2009 Sport England awarded the scheme a grant of more than £1m for a brand new teaching pool and moveable floor for the existing pool.

The redevelopment of the centre is expected to take about a year.

When it re-opens, the facility will also include a fitness suite, a creche, cafe and a conference and function suite

I used to go there with my wife about 11 years ago after she became disabled as swimming was very useful in her re-habilitation program.   I can't remember what we paid as we had a membership to use it.
