Also saw quite a few 'Soldier Beetles'...the second picture looks like the soldiers were on exercises  Grin

Mel, wasn't there a song about this sort of thing (Picture No 2):

"Birds do it, bees do it, even educated fleas do it . . . . "

No trees were harmed as a result of this post, however a large number of electrons were temporarily inconvenienced.

I had a suprise at breakfast time this morning, a 'thud' on the window had me retrieving this Sedge Warbler from the patio, anxious next doors cats may have been on patrol i put it in an old shoe box to get itself together and 15 minutes later it happily flew off into the Hawthorne hedge at the bottom of the garden. It didn't look too well at first, panting with its beak open and eyes kept closing but this hardy chap was ok, to continue its journey south to Africa.

Normal habitat would be reeds and marshes around Carlton Marshes and other similar sites, rather than a suburban garden!

A great picture of the sedge warbler James82 and well done for saving it from the neighbour's cats. Hopefully that is its mishaps over with and it has a safe onward journey to Africa.

Common Toadflax.
