Loved the picture of the Silk Tree - haven't heard of that one before.  Consulted good old Wikipedia and found it's of the Albizia genus (not many people know that!).

"Well caught, sir!" (to use a cricketing term!).  Mel: Excellent capture with the light showing through the red of the moth's wing.  Like that one very much.

I know, one of the blooms are dying, but I was trying out a new lens on the camera, and it happened to be there, this is the best 50p's worth I have ever had, I found the plant on the Dead and Dying shelf at Homebase and it has bloomed non stop since I got it home and as you can see there are more to come.

Patience (when taking pictures) is not one of my virtues Blue Eyes, I could never be stuck in a hide for hours on end waiting to get a wildlife shot. It is mostly down to luck...and walking miles on end...that I get most of my shots.

Are you pleased with your new lens? The gerbera certainly came out well; super 50p plant Smiley

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001GCVF78?ie=UTF8&seller=A2A7QKBGC1KFD9&sn=Melgray%20Hi-Tech%20Ltd

Which reminds me, I did receive my Steadepod, although not from 7dayshop.com where I originally ordered it from.  The next day they emailed me to say it was not in stock - despite their webpage saying  it was 'low stock' when I ordered it.  I immediately cancelled and found it on an Amazon trader and received it within a few days, albeit about £1.50 more expensive, delivered.   I now see that 7dayshop have it in stock at a more expensive price than what I paid the Amazon trader.

I haven't had the opportunity to try it out properly 'in the field' yet, apart from just a few brief shots in the garden but it seems to be OK and does seem to do what it is claimed to do.

This may seem to be off-topic, but as it was originally mentioned in last month's topic of the same name, and as Blue Eyes has just reminded me of it, I guess it was the best place to post this.   laugh

Will post my comments on its further assesment somewhere else when I've had the opportunity to do it.

Nice to see red poppies again, up here ours are all yellow although I do actually have a couple of red ones in the garden at the moment where the bird seed has germinated and grown. Probably some kind of drugs.  Shocked

I thought maybe I had caught the beetles in an unguarded moment Boatbuilder. But quoting from my Collins book  'Complete British Wildlife'...Seen May-August; mating pairs are a common sight. It seems they are at it all the time Smiley

Another bug seen yesterday was this member of the Longhorn Beetle family...

I had a suprise at breakfast time this morning, a 'thud' on the window had me retrieving this Sedge Warbler from the patio, anxious next doors cats may have been on patrol i put it in an old shoe box to get itself together and 15 minutes later it happily flew off into the Hawthorne hedge at the bottom of the garden. It didn't look too well at first, panting with its beak open and eyes kept closing but this hardy chap was ok, to continue its journey south to Africa.

Normal habitat would be reeds and marshes around Carlton Marshes and other similar sites, rather than a suburban garden!

A great picture of the sedge warbler James82 and well done for saving it from the neighbour's cats. Hopefully that is its mishaps over with and it has a safe onward journey to Africa.
