Suffolk beach hut going for £60,000 « Posted: 20 June 2011 at 12:23 PM »

It has no mains water, gas or electricity, and council rules state that nobody can stay the night in it.  But while these facts may deter some first-time buyers, anyone interested in this 7sq ft wooden hut is being asked to pay an eye-watering £60,000.

The scruffy-looking beach 'property' – number 98B – is believed to have sat on the seafront of the upmarket town of Southwold, Suffolk, for more than 100 years.  A spokesman for estate agents Durrants, which is selling the hut, said: 'We have got a fair bit of interest in it. The current owner believes it is the only original beach hut left in Southwold. It is certainly the smallest that I am aware of.'

Sounds like a real bargain to me!  Others nearby cost around £100,000 each.  If you’re interested, I would think it needs to be snapped up soon!

in 1972 i bought a beach hut in Southwold for £500 around1976 i sold it for £1000 .Hinde sight is a wonderful thing. My children were raised in Southwold and my Daughter takes her two boys there on a regular basis as she visits her father there and she thinks of Southwold as home how i wish we still had the beach hut.I dont think i would ever sell it now .i would keep it for future generations and our selves to enjoy.
