First photo is of one of the guardians of the flock ,these sheep and goats spend the summer on mountain pastures where there are wolves .These dogs live with the sheep all the time . They join the flock when they are puppies .The second photo is a Border collie.

Think that why the shepherds use them ,I patted one and it was very friendly but they are very good at their job and as the wolves are getting to be a real problem in some parts of the sth of France more are being used .Shooting the wolves is not allowed so they are one answer to the problem .

I always think vultures are ugly birds but maybe it is just because they have a bad reputation. Watched a flying display of vultures at Banham zoo a few years ago Kerch it was certainly an unusual sight.

Believe this is a Common Spotted Orchid and the second picture is the orchids amongst a sea of buttercups (seen at Gunton Woods).

There were no dragonflies about this morning here neither Kerch, quite a few damselflies, I was up and about early before they 'warmed up' too much; good to try and catch them cold, could never shoot them once they start busily flying about...not with my camera anyway  Smiley

It will probably attract loads of these creatures Blue Eyes...this one is a Small Tortoise Shell.

Cheers Sunny...I would have walked right past the Dragonfly but luckily I had my 'spotter' (Susan) with me and she had seen it sunbathing...think it may have been sleeping as it allowed me to get quite close Grin

The wind is certainly a bane when it comes to taking pictures of plants and insects Kerch, I delete hundreds (maybe a slight exaggeration) of blurred shots. I sometimes try and hold the stem of the plant with one hand but it is not always very successful as I end up with camera shake then  Grin

Lovely pics again kerch and Mel, well worth the wait, do either of you use a tripod  ? rather better shots by hand though , they wont let us film without a tripod at the club, but I guess that`s because they are all video shoots.

Hello Sunny I have used a tripod but it's a bit of a pest to carry around and by the time I've sorted it out what I was going to take a photo of has moved on . Unless you v'e got a very steady hand I expect the video would wobble a bit .I can take short videos with my camera and after a while my arms start to ache . hello

Ha Ha Mel   I usually have Pete carrying it for me, I did get a light one, so fairly easy to carry though, only trouble is could get blown off-track when it`s gusty, but had to weigh up the advantages,  and the light one came up trumps, for the carrying.
 Grin
I agree with you there kerch, but mine is lightweight, and just 6 presses on the holders and it slides straight down, then I just fasten, but I do agree with you, with video work, it`s the arms that tire, so tripods definitely for videos. laugh must say you and Mel couldnt improve your great shots.

I sometimes use a tripod Sunny, probably not as often as I should do, they certainly do help to lessen the camera shake problem...I wonder if I can get Susan to carry it for me  evil6   No chance of that  Grin

Mel, if Susan won't carry the tripod for you (why ever not - it isn't even her hobby!) - I suggest you get yourself a Mini Moke - like the one shown below.

I bought a tripod about 5 months ago - still hasn't been used . . . .  Roll Eyes

I await your review, the only thing i'm not sure about is, you may be inclined to take your foot of when changing views. but it does look good.

Whilst it looks good in principle (and I would be interested in getting one) my thought are that it is only held steady by tension.  So, whilst you’re holding it correctly with the tension - it’s OK.  If you relax a bit and the wire loses the tension - then it’s not helping at all.  I would think that an important issue is how you are holding and, most importantly, how you are physically supporting and steadying the camera - with your hands, arms and body.

Fabulous shots of those flowers kerch.    Roll Eyes Roll Eyes         That steadepod looks good , it will be interesting to see how B B rates it, I dont think I will change mine though as I said it`s very light, and if we get any awkward places to  shoot I have a baby tri-pod that will sit anywhere and that is good.   That  mini moke is a good idea Trigger, :laugh:as long as he stays put.

You just put it on a collar and lead.  If anyone asks about it - you tell them it's a Great Dane puppy!  Grin

Don't think I will go for the stabiliser Blue Eyes but it was interesting reading about it (not until Boatbuilder has given us his review anyway  Smiley), will make do with my tripod...even if I have to carry it myself  Grin

It's nice to see all the displays set out, the Fuchsia's were good aswell some unusual ones, thats what I like about going to these shows you see many that you don't normally see.

Add a Bit, I found it quite ammusing to see two ladies touching the Yellow Chrysanths rubbing the leaves, stroking the flowers, then saying, "Yes they are Real"

Is your Tripod a light one Mel  ?

Thankfully yes Sunny, it is handy for travelling about with but it does lose a bit of stability when the weather is windy.

Lovely colours from the NEC Blue Eyes.

That gecko is certainly well camouflaged Kerch it is a wonder you managed to see it let alone get a picture. Your garden is certainly colourful, sadly these aren't from my garden but from a local cemetery...
