Oh, those Senior Moments! « Posted: 13 May 2011 at 02:36 PM »

Did my usual “laundry” wash this morning (shirts/t-shirts), and hung them out on the line.  Came back indoors and decided that my caffeine levels needed a boast.  The kettle stands on the worktop and immediately below it is the washing machine.  Then I saw standing next to the kettle was the measured out detergent which should have gone into the washing machine for the stuff I had just hung on the line . . . . I'm sure I'm not alone in this sort of thing!  Wink

A few weeks ago I made a Special Chocolate cake - it was quite fiddly to make.  I went into the kitchen whilst it was baking and it didn’t smell as chocolaty as I expected - and I used the correct amount of cocoa powder (Black & Green’s).

Then I added the filling - so that it was ready for the Visitors.  They each had a piece and said how nice it was.  Later on I had another piece - but it just had no chocolate flavour.  Strange that!  Had a look in the kitchen cupboard to look at the cocoa packet - and there wasn’t one? But there was a similar pack - which was gravy powder.  I couldn’t have - could I?

The secret is - you have to carry it off with pancake - err, panache!  It was a lovely looking sponge cake - halved and joined with butter cream, a light dusting of icing sugar on top.  It looked exactly like a chocolate cake - so, as they saw a “chocolate” cake - so it looked right - so, it’s bound to taste right. Right?   Grin
