Biggest blooper I have ever made
« Posted: 09 April 2011 at 10:25 AM »
Hi all yes I am sort of kicking myself with a very large size 9.....
A while ago I thought about leaving Virgin and joining another ISP
Hey did this the other week
Went with TalkTalk, car phone warehouse, best buy (call them what you want)
So the plain simple change with NO fuss or hassle went ahead, duh yer right!
Had a date for the Internet to be changed and Virgin turned us off, but did TT turn us on ? NOooooooooo ! BT did though?
even though TT are taking over the whole package ISP phone and line control, BT said "welcome" I rang them and they then corrected the error and WE had TT Internet and phone (well I thought so)
Went to log onto TT web site as package tels you to and set up various things on there. Mmm cant log in?
Rang TT help desk Arrrrrrgh !! so got through to getting set up and logged on to see "service NOT ACTIVE" went to send email from the site (cant its not active)
Rang TT and got told there is engineer work being carried out (nothing was mentioned before) so OK Internet is slow but on and the phones work ? duh not after that call! we only have an engaged tone now but if I ring my own number from my mobile it rings and rings and rings (but not in the house)
Rang TT (from mobile) even bigger ARrrrrrgh.... "there is an outage in my area and they are sorry but services will be returned as soon as possible" I said that I had Internet slow but had it the chap then told me I did NOT have any service as there was an outage?
Went on to the TT web page and sent a notice to cancel the service email, got a call (on mobile) from TT saying I was not answering my TT home phone? and why do I want to leave (yada yada yada best offer have discount yada yada) the phone is still only giving an engaged tone (BT) are not able to investigate as TT are in
control
(used lightly) of the phone line and services.
So I am now searching for another ISP.
Yes get TalkTalk ==== IF YOU DONT WANT TO TALK TALK TO ANYONE

I had TT at my door last week. He said i should not be paying for broadband and wanted to come in and chech my line to make sure i qualify. Thats the third time they have been here wanting to check my line. I dont do business with anyone who calls at my door on spec so they failed again.
I am not sure why they need to check my line. Its works ok. I do not trust them.

You should get one of those blue stickers Malcolm that say you do not wish to do business at your doorstep or something along that line.

Did you not investigate them then? e.g. type "TalkTalk problems" into your search engine?
“Thinkbroad.com” has a forum section “ISP Unhappiness” - have a look there and go back to “Threads active in the last 2 weeks” for some user comments!
But I know people with them - and they’re very satisfied . . .

Did do lots of 'talking' to their customers and also looked at various comments about them most gave the impression they would be OK.
I may just be one of the unlucky ones who gets shafted by a company with no care (personal opinion there)

I moved from BT to TalkTalk last autumn. No problems on changeover at all. I was paying BT in excess of £40 a month for Broadband, phoneline, etc. I now pay less than half that and my broadband is more stable.
Sounds like you are one of the unlucky ones, Nikkai.

I have been with talk, talk for about three years my bill with them aprox. £25.00 per month includinng phone calls evening & weekends free including Australia. my bills were halved when I changed from BT. BT ring me up two or three times a week, they should be taxed for every call they make to me.
