Don't think cigarette manufacturers today would get away with the 'Craven A' publicity blurb...'Will Not Affect Your Throat'

I was a regular traveller on the corporation bus between Elm tree crossroads and the tramways. Was the old petrol bus preserved? It was smoother than the others and had brown patterned seats whereas most of the other buses had red patterned seats. As kids we were excited when the council bought two new buses which had oval radiator grills, we always hoped they would turn up. The conductor would sometimes give us the remains of his ticket roll when he put in a new roll. back in those days I think it cost 1d from the crossroads to the water tower and a penny-ha'penny to the tramways.
