I think some views on here are disgusting, i really hope these people do not experience mental illness, your body does funny things. I think the negative views on here reflect the unsympathetic nature of people today. Mental illness effects many people and the answer is not to make them feel like they are alone. Perhaps people are driven to such extremes because people and society will not except them for who they are, deep down someone with mental illness is not different from you or i.

UPDATE: Kessingland man sentenced after threatening to jump off a roof in Lowestoft
By RICHARD WOOD Monday, March 28, 2011
4:04 PM
A KESSINGLAND man has been fined a total of £215 after he sparked an 11-hour police stand-off and threatened to jump off a Lowestoft roof.
Paul Duell, 38, of High Street, Kessingland was charged with possessing a knife in a public place - two stanley knives - and possession of a class B drug - amphetamine - after the dramatic events of Friday night and Saturday morning.
Appearing at Lowestoft Magistrates Court this morning (Monday), Mr Duell was fined £215 in total for the two offences.
As previously reported, an eyewitness revealed how a crowd tried to encourage the man to jump off the roof of McDonalds, in London Road North, as police tried to talk him down.

Looks like this may have just been a case of too much illegal substances and alcohol, rather than mental illness!!!! But who are we to judge!! Whats worries me more is how many people are out there carrying knives etc in public places!

You cannot base that on one person Happy chick, there are hundreds of millions of people on this Earth, and i do not know how many of the world are suffering from mental illness. Mental illness can stem from Depression to schizophrenia, who are we to say that people with these illnesses are automatically ill because of drink and drugs?? Yes there is a high proportion of people carrying knifes, but thats a whole different argument

I didn't for a minute assume he was mentally ill because of the drink and drugs, but had he been suffering from any of the awful ilnessess you mention then surely the court/police have some kind of responsibilty to offer help rather than fine him and send him on his way!! The mere fact that the article mentions the possession of drugs must mean something?
