The Castle Carvery-The Wherry Hotel Oulton Broad,Been to the carvery several times, always first class, two carveries for eleven pounds in the week,(if you can eat two).I would rate this higher than the toby at gorleston.

We went to the 'Wherry' last week PaulGH and the carvery was very good, in fact it was very very good. Haven't been to the 'Toby' at Gorleston so can't compare, but the 'Wherry' certainly got a nine out of ten.

Last time we were in Lowestoft we went to the Wherry for lunch, couldn't fault it, in fact I rate it as the best Carvery we have had.
When we got there the car park was full, we found out; once inside, that there was a wake of up to 600 people attending, don't know who had died, but must have been popular.
We will be heading back that way in a couple of weeks time and the Wherry will be on our list, along with the Pakefield Chippy and The Thatch for Breakfast.

My family {eight of us}had our Christmas lunch at the Wherry. We were booked in for 12:45 the place was absolutely packed and it was clear they had over booked. At 3:00 pm we still hadnt had our desert and staff told us they were a long way off serving our table. It was getting more chaotic by the minute.
We decided to leave at 3 15 with out having desert as the grandchildren were getting fed up.Santa seemed like he had given up and had removed his beard.spoilt the magic for our grandchildren. At reception we demanded a refund and there was a long line of people behind us waiting to make a complaint. After several letters to the company my son in law finally got a full refund and so did many others.Im not sure if we will ever return.

We have only been to the Wherry a couple of times and both times we were disappointed with the food so haven't returned. I know they have been renovating the place and my son has been there a couple of times for the carvery and says it first class however my hubby hates carveries so I doubt we will try it out

When we went for a civil ceremony reception at the Wherry last year, the food I thought was great. But some of the others werent so pleased, thinking the food was a bit bland and dry.
